I don’t know if this has been asked before or not, but last weekend I went out to take some pictures and about 6 frames out of about 150 shots were either corrupted or the frame looked like it went through a wash cycle i.e. the colors were off on the bottom part of the photo. A couple looked OK but it wouldn’t allow me to edit.
Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

...by posting them with the EXIF info?

Hope they weren't too important for you.

Drew,

Those pictures wouldn’t allow me to convert to JPG or do any editing so I deleted them. Luckily I took a number of shots of the same subject but my concern is the future. I had this happen once before but I thought it was just a one off but now it’s becoming more frequent.

Try a different CF card, if you haven't already, sounds like a card problem.

Cheers

Do you ttransfer using the camera......if so use a reader to see if that helps.

Just trying to learn and it's slow going!

I used a cardreader too, I tryed different readers, MAC and PCs.

I found out that the files didn't have the right size most of them where 4-6 MB while normaly they are 14-15 MB.

The times I have seen this have been power related. Strangest one was when my MB-D200 was loose, and the battery contacts would not always be "in contact". Quite bizarre overall, strange aperture readings and such as well. First thing I would check is your battery.

I actually had this happen BECAUSE I was using a card reader. I was using a brand new Sandisk 12-in-1 reader and it was exhibiting the exact b ehavior that the OP indicates. I could transfer directly from the camera via USB. I exchanged the reader for another copy of the same unit and have been problem free since.

Thanks for your reply. I really think it is my card reader, I have a number of computers at home and when I use the other computer I never seem to have problems. This card reader is old and it maybe USB 1.1 which might also be a problem.
I will now download my pictures on the other machine and see what happens.
