...happened to be in bali for a conference this weekend.
I had the feeling from your pictures on the train and at the airport that you did more than photography. All the more impressive given the number of very high quality captures that you get given your time constraints for photography. The upside to having a "day job" with travel is the ability to get to new places with your camera that would be more difficult to justify if the images had to pay all the bills (not that your images couldn't pay the bills but a trip to Bali for the weekend would probably not be the norm)!

By the way, I've come back to the boy with the kite a number of times. So good, so well exposed just a fantasic shot to me.

Alas, I'm a consultant. I hate the job with a passion but it pays for the cameras, I guess. The minus side is that although I do get to travel, I seldom see anything outside of the office or client's office - and by the time you do get out, you're either too tired to shoot or it's dark. (I carried a D50 and 30/1.4 for the better part of last year - possibly the ultimate low light combination, at least for a Nikon shooter).

There's something rather whimsical about the kite, I think. It's a rather fun shot.

Anyway, one day, I'll make the images pay the bills...

Hi Ming,

Excellent pictures as usual. Beach pictures are always enjoyable and you have presented it in a special way, very impressive.

Just brought a blue TZ3 last night. Up to now, 22 pictures taken.

Do you think it is possible to stimulate iso125 or iso160 by playing with the exposure bias controls?

Thank you for sharing your pictures.

...the problem with the i-ISO program is that it varies ISO based on focal length and percieved motion from the OIS gyro sensors, so it's not easy. The thing is that if I handhold a shot with some deliberate motion, it'll push it all the way to 800 even in bright light; if I put it on a table, I get ISO 100 for the same lighting condition.

Btw, is the blue one really more rubbery than silver/black?

I guess I will stick to iso100 or 200. Critical condition iso400.

Yes, the blue TZ3 is really toy like, but that is what I need, so that when I take street pictures, people will not take me serious, who can imagine it is a 10x digital camera.

Took 3 more pictures this morning, weather was bad.

...on the front.

The beauty of it is that all of the zoom range is useable, and optically very good. Very rare in any camera, let alone a reasonably cheap point and shoot.
