As they stand I would have to go for No.1 but I actually prefer No. 4 but I think you need to use shadow highlight on it to bring out the background and therefore also slightly darken the foreground. That is just my subjective view -- sorry I cant post an example but maybe later. I duplicated the layer selected just the duplicate layer and ran shadow highlight. used a shadow amount of 18 and a Highlight amount of 8. It works on my calibrated monitor.
