Sunset Pano & Golden Gate Bridge Pano

I think Crissy Field just opened last year -- I have not been there yet. It was an abandoned airfield fenced off until then.

In PSE under filters you can select Noise and then Despeckle. It helps a little but not a lot. I have messed around with the trial version of NeatImage and it seems to do a better job. I know there are other tools but I am just starting to experiment in this area. Give NeatImage a try.

Unfortunately, I'm now at work, and won't be home until 6 PST. I don't have access to the originals from here.

How is that process done? Panorama Factory asks for a value in 35mm equivalent. Does it make a huge difference in the quality of the Pano? That's one aspect I've never been able to figure out.

If the lens length is fed properly in the stitching software, you will need to crop much less in the final pano, than when you supply a wrong length. In other words, correct lens length produces more accurate panos.

You might want to try NEAT Image. I have found it to do a great job in cleaning up noisy, low light shots.

It even seems to help balance out panos also.

Worth a try.

Thanks Yehuda...came out very well. Your software (and expertise) definitely did a better job of stitching and rendering. The only thing that doesn't look right to me is the way the right side of the horizon kind of "tilts up". Is that how it's supposed to look?

Otherwise, even at full size it's tough to see the seams. Can you give me any secrets to success, or is your software just that much better than Panorama Factory?

The problem is, that when there are big areas of sky and sea, the software gets confused because of lack of "control points".

I tried to stitch it with PanoramaFactory and got nicer results. Let me know if you want to see it.

If you can take those photos again, I would suggest that you use a tripod with calibrated head, and make sure there's an overlap of some 30% between adjacent images. (Your leftmost pair has a very minimal overlap.)
Also, whenever possible, keep the camera horizontal.

The software I use is Canon's PhotoStitch, and it comes with every new Canon digicam. I find it much faster and more accurate than PanoramaFactory, and for printing purposes, it creates considerably sharper images (especially when saved in tiff format).

Here it is.



If you look at the buildin under the left side of the bridge, at Original size, you'll see how inaccurate is PanoramaFactory... Maybe it has an option to fine tune the stitches, but I couldn't find it.

In any case: If you are interested in creating printed panos, I advice you to shoot it at higher resolution.
