I few days ago my FZ5 fell out of my vehicle and hit the pavement. I didn't notice any physical damage to the camera and thought everything thing was fine. However, now I'm finding out the camera is having difficulty with focusing, especially when I start zooming. When I half press the shutter button to focus on something, the camera finds focus at first then goes out of focus right before focus locks. Today I noticed something seems loose in the camera when I shake it. When the camera is turned off something within the lense portion clunks around, but I can't visually see anything moving.

Anybody have a clue what might be wrong?

I can't say what the problem is but chances are excellent that it would cost several times what it is worth to have it fixed.

I think Steve is right and I would be willing to bet the cause is acute stopping on pavement.

The noise probably comes from the lens, it's absolutely normal; with the optical stabilizing system some elements are loose to compensate from photographer movement.

And regarding focusing, since you have no reference from before, it might be perfectly normal as well.

I would continue to use it and if there is a real and spectacular malfunction then think of having it fixed.
