We have no retainer for weddings.
We charge for the engagement and that secured the date.
Clients have current work to show family and friends and we
consider that is the booking price. There is never a question of
value because they have already paid as they go.
We have balance due two weeks before wedding, but verbably offer
that the final payment can be made the morning of the wedding. We
work that out as the wedding draws near, but will work with clients
to meet their needs. No final payment, so pictures.
Hope that helps. It varies if this is important to a client. Most like the
fact that they get something for their payments. Connecting 1st payment
to the engagement has been received well in our business.
Retainers are good for commercial jobs where you have to cover materieal
and overhead cost to complete the job.
I am new to the forum but have been reading tdp for some time...I
will be meeting clients latter on and need a retainer because I
think that they will like the sample engagement session I did and
book me to do a wedding.Considering I never did a wedding before I
thought that it would be fair to give them a free engagement
session so that they can judge my work in advance. If you have a
sample of a retainer and or a wedding contract please post it here.
Thanks!
