Hi

Does anyone have any info on the DX4900? When will it be released? What are the differences from the DX3900? Worth the wait? Any web sites with info on it?

Thanks

Dennis

The DX4900 is similar to the DX3900 with some improvements. It's 4.0 megapixel.

I'm not sure, but I think that it is available in about 30 days or sooner. I think that I read about April 2002 someplace.... I expect that someone knows and will post it here. But, anyway, I don't think it's very long until you'll see some of these being sold.

More information about the 4.0 megapixel Kodak DX4900: This article says the retail price is $399 (USD) and release is sometime in March. I would expect that this could be purchased for $349 or less in a few months is a guess.

What's interesting about the DX4900 is that they claim that it can make poster size prints up to 20" x 30" in size. With the DX3900, it was only 11" x 14", as a maximum. Apparently, the DX4900 is a large leap ahead of a lot of other competitors, in that price range (below $400 USD). We'll find out more, I suppose when more data is available.

That seems amazing that the pixels for the DX4900 are only about 29 percent more than the DX3900, but the area of the maximum sized print is almost four time as great; that is 600 divided by 154. Is the DX4900 that much better of a camera?
