To Yehuda: 707 SCS Advise

Hello Yehuda,

today is monday and i returns from Sony SCS. They have
my both 707 changed to both new 707 cameras.
my 505V returns today with the postservice.
i have checked and today sell.
my question for hotpixel cannot to be answer.
the complete service ha a meeting with the chairman
and the end are open, so i dont wait.
tomorrow sony will me phone to the hotpixel question.

yes, i have two 707. i first by 505V has a difficult technical problem
and was 5 times to repair since 11/2001. so i bought the 707, but
this idear was not so good. the 707 was 3 times to repair since 01/2002.
so i bought the second 707. this model has the colored balls syndrom.

i talk with sony and they had change both cameras to both news cameras without denote the technical problem. the 505v yesterday returns and is

pefectly repaird. so i sell the camera yesterday. the 707 i will test in this week for all the known problems and i hope for no problem.

i have the first one tested. the photos are clear, sharp, and have no
colortouch. using flash i have no coulortouch. this model has a little
optical distorsions at wideangle (i can live with this).
in sunlight or contralight a see a big black/red strip form the left
to the middle of the LCD and EV too if i pressed the shutter half.
all times the color lila turns (al little) to blue, also darklila turns
to middle blue. i think thats the compromiss they sony do to
have clear other colors. i hope tomorrow is better sun, and than
i will test again. in overall addition, its the best 707 i had.

for this, perhaps it is better.
some people here had wrote the stipes in lcd and ev.
adjusting the setupparameter will only make darker, but not
release the stripes.

i addion i found the the AF by this 707 is extremly quick
and better that the others ive had.

tomorrow i will phone sony between the lila-color and the
black/red stripes.

the bad is, if i must prefocus (half-shutter pressed) the view
in the lcd/ev with the bleck/red stripes is a problem.

for my eyes have sony the problem with the withe balance
not full in hand, and they make a compromiss with overboost
the redchannel by pressing half-shutter, so the lcd/ev runs
in the distorionarea.

if i had the answer i will tell you yehuda.

i couldnt find any date code on the camera or on the package.
the us-model has on the right barrel side a date sticker.
the german model contains here a laser warning sticker.
so i cannot tell you the datecode. the serialnumber
is 1729133. when i see the history, the camera must
manufactured in 12/2001.

the not correct lila color (in flash and daylight) can be corrected,
if i use the push-wite-balance in automode. in the recorded picture
you may see auto-white-balance, but the lila color is ok.
other colors are not affected, my eyes cannot see.

tomorrow i will tell you more. additionally i will send the size-reduced
pictures. 2 made by this 707, one from IXSUS-300 Canon.

i will describe, what color-touch (lila) is the right.
perhaps other sony users can the power of lila check.
only by dark-lila is this effect to see. light lila are little lighter
than the original, but it is in an aceptable range.

sony has phoned me today but i was not at home.
i think, they have new informations for me.

forget the darklila problem !
a plastic that is not lightconsistent are the problem.
i have tested with 2 x 707 and 1 x canon + 1 x 505v (from a friend).
all results are identically. the color of the plasticbox is for the human
eyes darklila, but all digicams see the color as blue.
i have tested by use a plastic-hardbox and a plastic-softbox.
the softbox is nearer the "color" that see my eyes as the hardbox.
all items reflect light. in this case, i think the reflected light see
the cameras other than my eyes.
perhaps this can by other item the same, or nearly the same.

just i have phoned with sony. the black/red stripes in lcd/ev under
high contrast motives, are not a defect . the DAC for the display/ev
circut, goes in a distortionarea. this effect has only few cameras,
and not affected the recorded photos. sony says, that is inrange
of the technical data and must be not corrected.
only some DACs have this problem. i dont know they change
the type of DAC, or select future series to a smaller tolerance
by preselect the DACs to eleminate this effect.

i heard that both new cameras are adjusted by sony. i see they
have really spend top work. best pictures on 707 i had.

compared with the production 707, the pictures are lighter
the colors tighter and absolutly naturally. by ervery light
with and without flash. no tint in any color.

today my time is small for experiments.

later today or tomorrow i will take some pictures with the 707
so that you can see.

if i become more or new informations from sony, i will tell you.

I agree that this is not a defect in your camera. If memory serves me well, it is also covered in the manual. I too noticed it yesterday, for the first time.

Huh ! today my TCON-14B received !
tomorrow i buy the reducer 62/58 and than shooting with
more tele.

today i have found a pretty leatherbag from cullman for the 707.
i little difference to the sony lcx-fs but better price. 35 Euro cost,
approx: 25,20 US$,
include shoulderstrap and bodystrap, both with antidamage area.
anought place for the seconday accu and a lot of memorysticks,
but to small to place the Wideangle and Teleconverter.

Hi Yehuda,

in this time i returns from indoorkarting (no drive, only shoot),
and i read this meassage. i´m glad that you like the photos.
My 707 has hard work doing. the light-level in the hall was
very bad. of course the speed for the karts allow only
1/125 to 1/320 sec. shutter-speed. by this bad light difficult
problem. no external flash power, only the inbuild flash.
i took some shoot for testing. the best adjustment are:
M-Mode, F2.0/2.1, ISO 400, Flash-Level Normal,
shutter 1/200 sec. using Prefocus.
The results are good for this scene and conditions.
Next week i will buy the HLV-1000 to take better
results.

and i read this meassage. i´m glad that you like the photos.
My 707 has hard work doing. the light-level in the hall was
very bad. of course the speed for the karts allow only
1/125 to 1/320 sec. shutter-speed. by this bad light difficult
problem. no external flash power, only the inbuild flash.
i took some shoot for testing. the best adjustment are:
M-Mode, F2.0/2.1, ISO 400, Flash-Level Normal,
shutter 1/200 sec. using Prefocus.
The results are good for this scene and conditions.
Next week i will buy the HLV-1000 to take better
results.
