Bracketing more than 3 shots with 5D or 1D Mark II

I have a 5D and know you can set it to take 3 bracketed exposures. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to take 5 bracketed shots, or even 7, rather than three. I realize that you can do this manually, but I'd like to be able to take 5 or 7 bracketed shots very rapidly. The upcoming Mark III might be ideal if it allows this.

Thanks.

I know on the Mark II N you can set the number of bracketed shot through Personal Function 08, Not custom function*

So with a Mark III do you think I could set it to take 5 shots:

-2 stops
-1 stop
correct exposure
+1 stop
+2 stops

And assuming it's using a relatively fast shutter speed, take my 5 bracketed shots in half a second?

Thanks.

One of the problems with HDR photography is that subjects often move during the bracketing sequence. But if I could shoot 3 shots in .3 seconds, or 5 in .5 seconds, this problem become much less of an issue. It would still be impossible to shoot fast action HDR photos, but portraits, street scenes, landscapes with slowly moving subjects, might work.

If nothing else, it's an interesting benefit for 10fps for landscape photographers.

Unless, Canon deletes the equivalent of PF8 (seems pretty unlikely given the emergence of HDR).

Although I can't help with the more than three shots question, one way to take three rapid brackets is to set yr AEB value then use the timer funtion. You have to wait ten sec then all three fire automatically. Works great for occassions when I have no tripod or for limited subject movement. Good luck

I just checked as I remember I have my Personal Function 8 set to 5 shots just for that reason. It takes a computer with firewire to set it up, then you turn the PF on/off by menu. It will bracket 2,3,5,7 shots per sequence. However, I you put it into rapid fire sequence I don't see how you are going to get exactly 5 shots. If you hold down the shutter the frames come very, very fast and you shoot an extra frame or two you will start the next sequence.

I guess the only solution is to finish off the next sequence, delete the extra images and your ready again. Most things that are moving, like water or leaves in the wind move faste enough that five frames over 1/2 sec will be too long.

To take the standard three bracketed shots rapidly you can just switch the camera to continuous shooting mode, select AEB and then press and hold down the shutter release button. In continuous mode AEB makes the camera to take three bracketed shots and stop.

Set continuous mode, enable bracketing, hold down shutter release. The camera will only take the necessary amount of shots before stopping. If you don't have continuous drive set, it will require one full shutter press/release cycle per frame.
