One of my roommates just dropped my G2, it was only about 6 inches off the table and the lensmate was on, but now the lens is stuck in the out position. Is there any hope that I can fix it or should I get it in the mail to canon right away?

Thanks,

My G2 lens also got stuck in the out position. I am considering trying to fix it myself. Did you send yours in?

Mine fell off our coffee table sometime in the first wekk I had it (I was palying around with a new, wobbly mini-tripod) and nothing at all bad happened to it...
Try turning the camera on and off a few times. Take out the battery
and put it back in. Turn camera on and off a few times. If that
doesn't work you probably need a repair job. Gad, I didn't think
they were that delicate.

I ended up fixing mine with a few forceful slaps on the side of the camera. Just slam it into the palm of your hand a few times from the side and it should do the trick...

good luck

Before you start slapping your camera around, try gently moving the end of the lens back and forth (as opposed to in and out). If the lens is even slightly out of alignment, the motor's not strong enough to retract it. Regardless of whether it retracts, consider buying a lens adapter for future protection.
