Newbie here so I apologize in advance. I was thinking of getting a 30d but I read some old posts of people buying a refurb 20d from adaroma. Since its a refurb unit I was wondering if anyone has any problems and had to send it back. I know I'll probably have to buy an extended warranty but is it worth the trouble if something goes wrong with it.

I think they come with a 90day warranty from canon refurb center, and you can buy a mack warranty for about $40, I think that's reasonable, it's good for around 3-4yrs. I just bought mine earlier, if you find a 20D body hop on it because they go fast, I pressed the buy button and around 1hr later all the bodies were gone. Hopefully the order goes through well, I decided on the body because it's $100 towards a better lens.

I've been looking at the 17-85IS and the 50mm 1.8 and 1.4, optically the 1.8 is really sharp, but the built quality is a little on the cheap side, you can look for a used 1.8 version I, they are older model but they have 1 more blade and the mount is metal, the 1.4 has 8 blades, the 1.8 II has 5 blades and ver I has 6 blades, blades help with blurring the background, the 1.4 does a better job I'm just having a hard time deciding if it's worth the extra $210 over the 1.8 version.
