Thanks for taking us along on your trip to Iceland. I enjoyed that very much. I doubt I will ever get there, but I feel as I have a better understanding of the terrain and the sights through your photos and descriptions. Nice job!

BTW, I am a McCarthy, too! Originally from Chicago, IL, but my dad's family hailed from Cos. Clare and Mayo. Thanks again for a nice journey!

Bill, that would be a awesome long weekend. The pictures really give some insight into the area. Some of the terrain really looks rugged.

Very fine album. You brought back some great images of a unique part of the world. Those icelandic ponies are about as tough and hardy as they come. Let's hope that climate change doesn't devastate those glaciers.

The photographs really bring back memories.
Iceland is a magical country both scenically,and historically.

The Icelandic Horses are beautiful animals,and during our tour of the country we were fortunate to visit a stud farm during which we were treated to an exhibition of riding which included the fourth,and fifth gaits!

Thanks for all the comments, I put this together realizing how much I enjoy seeing other peoples trips (I was always the one who loved to see slide presentations of anyones travel).

Linda, I don't know of any McCarthys from my side of the fam that moved west, but it could be.

Jim, it was a long weekend. I worked on the Friday that we left, then drove the 2 hours to the airport in Boston, flew for five hours and arrived in Iceland at around 6:30 their time. We got breakfast and just kept going. Finally got to bed midnight Saturday.

Gary those horses are great and I think what Cameraman is mentioning is the almost magical way they seem to run.
Steve, those horses are truely rugged, very much like the terrain.
