I loaded the demo and it worked OK, so I thought I'd check some prices and this was the best deal I could find. There are three $30 rebates and shipping is free.

Jim-sounds like a great deal. Could you supply more details? Like source of coupons, who is eligible where to find more info.

thanks

Go to http://www.amazon.com ---search for adobe photoshop elements, print out coupons. Two from amazon, one from adobe.

A newer version of elements is due out soon for Mac OS X. I would assume they would be upgrading the PC version with the advent of PS 7. It may be worth the wait, but it definitely will cost more than $10.

It's at Amazon.com in the software section. There are three thirty dollar rebates.
One is an Adobe rebate requires Photoshop LE
Two are from Amazon, one requires Photoshop LE,
and one just for buying the product

If you read the rebates, you need to purchase between Mach 23 and March 31st for all three rebates to be effective.

one rebate is between 2/1 - 3/31
Another is between 2/25 - 3/31
And the last is after 3/23

If you buy today, you will not get anything....

Read it more carefully. The purchase has to be after March 23, 2001. This is 2002.

I have been doing some homework on these rebates. The one from Jasc's site for Paint Shop Pro 7 is at http://deals.jasc.com/rebates/aecomp.asp (click on the blue link that says, 'Jasc Competitive Rebate Form'). On line 4 it says, 'Purchase of Paint Shop Pro 7 must have been made after July 1, 2001.' So wouldn't the rebate be good if you purchased it now?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read so far, wouldn't you get all 3 rebates if you purchased Paint Shop Pro 7 now?

Wythe -

This would be good news. Can you recall where you first heard about this? I've been anticipating an update to Elements.

Have you heard anything reliable about what it might bring to the table?

I've never loaded the Pshop LE that came with my G2. Do you know if that version of LE is a licensed version with a serial number?

Thanks,

I'm obligated to point out that I don't think Amazon could not sustain business by deceptive sales practices. Read the fine print and believe what you read. You seem to have a conceptual error. The product is advertised on the Amazon site in realtively plain American English language. Of course you do have to click on the rebate forms and turn your monitor on its side to read the forms, but for a $90 savings on a $99 product I don't mind.

Certainly $10 is a great price, but how does Elements stack up against LE, or more importantly, against PS 5.0.2 which I have? Function wise is it a step up from 5.0?

Thanks.

Photo Elements is a step up from Photo Deluxe. Photoshop 5.0 is the next in line after you've mastered the last two. Photo Elements is more user friendly.

Buy Elements from Amazon and pricematch with Amex Blue from Outpost for 69.99 and you might get Elements for free and extra funds as well.

Well it's two days later and a visit to Amazon now shows only two rebates making the final price $39.99. What the heck? Well I still want the program, so I cancelled that order and turned around and ordered it with a $20 coupon (posted over in the PSP thread). Instead of the origianlly posted $90 savings I'll be realizing $80. My apologies to anyone I may have mislead or disputed during this topic...

Make that a $10 coupon and a savings of $70. Saving money is complicated especially while spending it.

That does sound weird. I didn't want to read the coupons sideways etc so I printed out all three the other day. I don't see how they could not honor them. I'd better make copies.
