Your act is required to fix spp3.0!

It sounds very stupid, but Sigma corp. does not want to read the forum to know about spp3.0 bugs ( I have sent them the links ). So, you need to send EMail to sigma corp.

Dear Mr. Sokolov,

You see this is the problem, some users are writing to forums, instead of
coming us directly, this is causing a great inconvenience and also does not
let us to give feedback to our engineers.

We are not in the position to involve, manipulate, read or write any comments to forum sites, which are controlled by third parties.

If you or your friends find any problem I strongly recommend to write Sigma's world network.

So what problems were you finding?

Pavel:

I don't think most if any companies have a bug-identifcation policy based upon reading posts on DP review. That would really be stupid. Most, including Sigma, have a significant number of testers whom they trust to report a bug that is a bug.

If you are sure you have found a bug, just follow the link to report it. Vuslat is a key person within the company so you can trust his response.

Sigma is aware of 3.0 issues and is working to get them fixed. I doubt they are "surprised" about the possibility of a new bug.

Keep up the good work at bug-finding

Rick

Sure, I wait for years to no avail to fulfil their promises on the last lemon they sold to me for a lot of money, like firmware updates and software development.

When reporting problems with the camera on this forum (they don't even bother to make their own) I get corrected by some half-official smartypants that everything is just MY fault and I only have to learn how to use a camera (!).

Now, the same again, only worse! Sigma, what are you thinking??? Make me an offer, say at least 50% off for a new SD 14, and we can talk about my precious work power to fix it! :-)

If they are not carefully reading everything on the internet they
are pretty stupid. That response you got looked like from an autist.
There are autists that are extrardinarily cleaver (savants). Unfortunately Sigma does not do clever, they need a new set of sparkplugs.

Tiffles, we have many people communicating here on the forum and in general via the Internet for whom English is a secondary language. He doesn't sound 'arrogant' so much as he is writing in a way slightly different from how a native-English speaker might phrase it. As Rick wrote above, I'm sure Sigma is aware of the SPP3 issues and I also am confident they're working on a fix asap. What the Sigma rep is saying I think is that they officially don't/won't respond directly on 'third party forums' ie here. They give a link for bug reporting -- and note Pavel's bugs to the best of my knowledge aren't new news; already reported by others (and being worked on... )

just for the record, the 3 SD14-related issues I personally deal with are a)SPP3 (PC) issues b) high ISO + flash and c) FAT16/32 on reused cards. I know these issues were reported 3 weeks ago through Laurence and others, Sigma is aware, working on these, so I'm not emailing again. Yes, just for the record, I'm still having slowness difficulties with SPP3. It's usable, obviously I'm using it (build 24), but it's slow for me.

Hi SandyF, although its not a word with english roots I am sure we can agree upon the definition of arrogance as the notion of overrating the importance/value of an own domain against others. What I was up to was that the Person from Sigma was underrating the importance and value of another domain - the internet - in saying that SIgma would not, among other things, read third party websites. You may interpret this as not being arrogant at all or think of me having drawn a too strong and unbacked conclusion. I wont try to change your mind on that, I read fast and write fast and know that I sometimes write stupid stuff because of this - and many people do that, also here. Its part of internet communication culture.

Let me just repeat that I feel his opinion sort of diverts from that of Sigma in general (which, as we have seen in the past, does listen to what users would like etc).

In that respect I very much agree with what Paulo said about sparkplugs.

Tiffles, those of us who were at PMA have met all the (Sigma corp) people involved. I know that various Sigma Users Group people have been working on replicating, reporting and fixing bugs. He's just saying we're not going to see their responses here (on this or other international message board forums). Laurence (see the post I linked) got those bugs to the 'right people' weeks ago.

Of course, especially for any new issues, as others have suggested, try to replicate it, report it. But first, any new 'bug' is worth a question or two here. This forum is a tremendous help to new SD14 users because some of the 'issues' aren't really 'bugs' but are just beginning user issues. And I mean things like -- it won't focus!! umm, check the setting for continuous vs single focus, see page x in manual. These aren't 'bugs' that need to be reported. These questions can easily be addressed here by more experienced SD14 users.
Best regards, Sandy

My main issue is banding and strange artifacts appearing (ISO 800 problem?).

See this 800 ISO shot, taken with SD10, processed with the new software:

I cant seem to replicate your banding issue with my sd10 800 ISO shots that I reprocessed.

Do you have any other images shot at 800 that exhibit banding?

Good morning, First I've seen that... Does the same photo do the same thing in SPP2.1 or just SPP3? I haven't seen any streaks, just very sloow processing in SPP3 of either SD10 and SD14 photos. I keep both SPP2.1 and SPP3 programs on my computers; only process or print with SPP3. Most of my browsing, delete, rotates, etc I do with SPP2.1 still (for both SD10s and SD14s). I found the skies much better on SPP3 for a SD10 photo. Couple examples here of the different processing on SD10s: http://www.pbase.com/sandyfleischman/valley_of_fire_nv_sd10
