One more question, will it clog the printer head? I am using InkRepublic system on my R200 for two years, no clogging at all. I am wondering if InkJetFly is able to do the same? When I ordered their system, I found they are selling the head cleaning tool, does this mean their system will clog the printer head?

No, the IJF head cleaning tool is for people who are switching over from InkRepublic systems. (Just kidding!)

Seriously, InkRepublic also sells a cleaning tool (i-Remove), right on their home page.

After being deep into CIS for a couple months now I have some strong opinions...

especially that most "clogging" reports are really "air leak" problems. It is essential that the cartridges be seated fully and that the ink tubes be securely fastened at both ends.

I guess i am not qualified to really discuss this, since i have NEVER had a clog - the 1800 just hums along like a dream on the InkJetFly system and has never missed a beat in about 700 11x17's.

I believe there are 4 or 5 really good CIS systems out there, and all are very simple to use - BUT they are different and it seems that users sort of blank the mind when first using them - fear of a problem makes a problem, and sometimes some incredibly foolish things are done during installation that could easily be avoided by a bit of thought, some inet research, or a quick email to the company (most of these companies have really good support response - if they do not, avoid them like the plaque! )

Leo will hate me, and some of you will suspect wierd things, but i need to say this anyhow: i bugged Leo so much that he finally sent me a prototype CANON CIS to experiment with as he is so very busy on another stellular (sp) project that Canon has been pushed to the side long time now.

InkJetFly has a fantastic CIS for the i9900 (and related) !!!!! I have worked out every bug i could find and have run near 200 prints through it without a hitch now!!! Look for a CANON CIS in the next 2-3 months max!!!

I am so durn happy now! both printers hum along, never need "cartridges", print for cheap - but give excellent results (great color, good durability expectations, easy to use).

Sure, there will be minor ink glitches coming i am certain - always has been when using cartridges, so i expect them with the CIS - no printer runs forever without a screw up. But when one happens I will fixie with a little help from my friends - part of the business.

Say what you want, think what you want - i am in heaven... and NO, i am getting nothing for this "review", in fact Leo will be quite upset with me as he instructed me to NOT publish review or make an announcement - as i said he is into some new and exciting stuff. I cannot just sit quiet though, do not think that is fair to the Canon users :) and this is not really a review :)

finally: i spray all with Premier Art Shield... 9000 reasons to do it, in my opinion it foolish not to.

pps: besides great success with IJF inks on matte, i have now made a profile for semi-gloss that is giving beautiful results!!!

and I have been using inkjetfly for a good while. I have dye inks in my
R220 and Pigment inks in my 1280. Both give great results but yes, if I
don't use them on a regular basis they will clog. I have found that if I run
a nozzle check every 2 or 3 days I don't get any clogs. I suspect that if
I did not live in a very low humidity climate (Texas Panhandle) I would not
need to run the nozzle checks. When I used only oem inks I had exactly
the same situation. I suspect the previous poster is right; most reported
clogs are really problems with air that has not cleared the lines.
In short, there are 2 or 3 good CIS systems. I happen to have the Inkjetfly
and am quite happy with it. Great quality, service and BIG savings!

the poster who said most "clogs" are due to air leaks is correct. I had no "clogging" issues at all with my CIS until I removed the ink tube from one of the dampers to see about switching black cartridges for Matte and Photo black.

I saw air get into the tube while it was disconnected but didn't worry about it as I've there was some air in the tubes when I first installed without problems. Halfway through my second 8x10 on canvas the black channel dissappeared. It took a couple cleaning cycles to get it back. The dampers don't hold much ink at all, so I'm pretty sure it was the bubble making it's way to the head. No problems since. If I do this again I'll use the syringe to suck the bubble out but it doesn't sound like something I want to try.

I have run 3 IJF CIS setups now, and have changed every cart and damper atleast twice, while doing tests and such. Air is the clogger, not the ink. (atleast concerning the good qaulity ink CIS's) And every time a clog comes up, a cleaning or two gets rid of it. I do not get clogs on a regular basis. Only when I was changing things around, which introduced air into the lines.

I get no more clogs than I do on my r1800 with OEM inks, which also get a clogged line every now and then.

Thanks for your information! I've placed my order, don't know when will they ship the product. I can't wait to receive it cause I'll have my R1800 delivered tomorrow!
