John,

Were these shot in raw? I just purchased an R1 on friday and only shot about 15 pictures but since I had not read the manual I shop in JPEG. These are beautiful floral shots.

John,

So glad to hear you have another R1 in your capable hands! From the looks of these shots, it looks like you haven't forgotten how to use it effectively.

Nice shots! Can't wait to see more from you and your new R1! Welcome back to the fold!

Can't we all just get along?

These first shots were taken in jpg. I just took the camera out without changing any settings.

I've been playing with an external flash and I find that the white balance is not exactly right, (all my colours seem off, especially skin tones), so I've switched to RAW because that gives me more options for changing the white balance.

I saw your photos. Turn on the grid, (you just have to push the display button a couple of times while you are in normal shooting mode), and then they won't be tilted. It's easy to fix in post processing too.
Thanks for you kind words about the flowers.

and I made an appointment with Sally on Wednesday. So the pretty girls will be coming up, soon. (Don't know what I'm doing with the flash though. I just have it set in Automatic mode and it seems to fire every time, and about the right amount of light, but I have to adjust the white balance in post). I set the AWB on the grey top of my VCR. Maybe it was too shiny, ha ha.
