Hi

I have a Casio EXILIM EX S500 and have been more than pleased with the results and its ease of use.

My 15 year old niece wants a digital camera and I would like to buy her something from the Casio EXILIM range. I know she would find the best shot feature very useful. Other than that she just wants to take snapshots in the main.

I am now faced with two choices. Do I let her have my EX S500 and I will buy myself the EX Z700 - or is the EX S500 the better of the two (I wish to keep the better of the two cameras, as I mentioned, my niece just wants to take snaps at this stage, with what would be her first digital camera. Either way she gets a decent camera).

Any thoughts or comments on differences between the two cameras, good or bad, would be welcomed.

Thanks

Lynda

i would keep the S500 if i were you...it has a better video mode, more durable body frame, and it's slimmer too. I had a S500 until I gave it away to my sister. I've never used a Z700 so i'm just basically comparing its specs. I would get your niece a Z700 thought and keep the S500...I wish I had kept my S500 haha ;)

If I were you, I would give her the s500. Then, I would go and buy the S770 for myself. The S770 is the way older brother of the S500, and it a much more grown up camera. It is a bit thicker, but it has two extra megapixels, widescreen videos, much bigger screen, and so on. I would look into it, as it is the best snap-shotter by Casio right now. (If you want manual controls, look into the Z850 or V7)

Hope this helps.
