La Ree - Trout for dinner - Osprey BIF

Finally the Osprey are back in our area. Murphy's Law got me the 1st day I found them there was snow flurries and overcast skies.

I kept this one because you can tell it is a trout. He was returning from the lake and hadn't stopped to eat the fishes head yet.

BIGMA did OK for the conditions. I am going back this afternoon cause we got some blue skies and see if I can find them again.

Roger,

I really like the image. There is something really dynamic about the form and tesion in the flight. My wife and I were coming home in the fall and watched an osprey hovering over the pond near the house. Didn't have the camera but watched it dive and make off with it's catch.

Full frame or crop though?

Stephen

Nice one Roger! Are you using a red dot sight for the BIF shots? I got the same bird with the same meal (see sig pic) with my Panny FZ30 some time ago. I think you've finally convinced me to join the Bigma club, now, only where to find one :-( Excellent as usual Roger.....

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

Yeeeeehaaaaa! You knew I'd love this shot Roger. I can't believe the detail that is on that fish! And the Osprey is looking good. Impressive for what looks like challenging light. Wonderful job Roger. This one is definitely a keeper!

Great picture as always Roger.
The Osprey seem a spectacular bird, but I’m interested, why is it so popular ?

I’ve encountered a fascination about it. And read that it should have many unique and distinctive characteristics. But maybe you guys (and dolls) from the forum could elaborate.

Kind regards

I use to think the 'Bigma' was a 5lb 50mm but after looking at these pics I may have to join the club.
So, how do I explain this to my better half...LoL

That is one fantastic shot Roger..... of which I'm VERY envious, having just spent a couple of hours on a freezing cold Sunday morning trying to spot one!

Ospreys were re-introduced into the wild at a reservoir near here a few years back and the population is steadily growing. The first two have just returned from their winter home in West Africa in the last week.

Why are they so popular? Well I think anyone who's ever seen an Osprey fishing wll agree that it's an unforgettable sight. Plus the fact they migrate every year to return to the same nest after travelling several thousand miles round trip makes them a bit special!

Now..... where's that order form for the bigma!!!

LaRee I sure you have also noticed that some days Mother Nature and Murphy from Murpheys law team up to work against you. But then some days they do team up to be helpful.

LaRee thanks for looking and commenting. Yesteday was much better light and I did get a few keepers so shen I get a chance I will post them.

Sune, thanks for looking and commenting.

I will let others that write better than I do explain about Osprey. The one thing I really like and more than likely others might not is they talk to each other all the time and if you listen you can tell if they are un-happy or just taking.

I am always uplifted by your enthusiasm for photography as well as
your images.
Joe thanks for looking and commenting.

Your are right about I am enthusiastic about taking photos but the number one thing that gets me going is being out tin the woods and then everything else comes after that.
