These were all taken by my beloved wife, she'd be very glad to hear some opinions and CC.

The lens flare on #2 was added artificially in Photoshop for a stronger effect. Other than that, just pure and simple D1h magic.

We intended the sunset shots to have a bit of a meaning in them. It was my last day with that rifle, which has been with me for a long time. I've put a part of my soul into that thing. It's like an end of a certain chapter.

Great images. The fill flash was good and not too bright. Worked well.
Wear that uniform with pride!

Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won't work.

What army are you in?? That looks like a Galil or an AK variant, not US Army issue but your helmet, I'm guessing, is American.

So, you are the soldier and your wife is the photographer, right? Thanks for posting, and yes, wear your uniform with pride.

That's the Polish Army, and the rifle is a 5.56mm wz.96 Beryl - an advanced, modular AK-74 derivative with optional RIS attachments, an overly complicated fire control (safe, semi auto, three-round burstburst, full auto) and a longer barrel (same as M16) to get the most out of the round.

I'm just in reserve, though... :)

Thanks! I'm polishing it up on a daily basis - my wife is a Canuck ;)

Nice photos, but what does it mean: Canuck?
When it was my time, this army looked bit worse.
Kind of jealous I am. Congrats and welcome outside.
Outside the Army, there is some civilisation as well.

That must be why I like your English so much. I'm a Canadian as
well. ;-)

LOL! Awesome! Where from? We're going to go back to Montreal for a couple of years in six or seven months. She's got studies to finish at Concordia.

I'm on the west coast (Vancouver).

I was in Montreal briefly a L-O-N-G time ago and would love to go back to explore the city.

Aaah. it's been so long since I had to wear camo... funny how bruises and dirt, sweat and bad smell doesn't really matter when you wear combat outfits. :D

Mind though that term "militaristic" isn't really flattering. Maeby you ment it in ironic fashion.

Now show us the outfit after a week living in field conditions. ;)

That's part of the fun :) Hey, some people actually pay to roll around in mud, sleep in a tent or under the stars> Others, oh good heavens, even pay to sweat in a gym! Gosh! :D

A bit ironic, a bit playful> It depends who uses this word and for what purpose.

Oh come on, sometimes a day is enough. Like when a cute little stream on the map turns out to be a nasty bog two hundred meters across. The leeches, man, the leeches! :D

I know what you mean. When we thought of that, though, the sun was already down :)

To me they are Great and thanks for sharing and letting us know what you guys (and ladies) have to put up with. I support you all totally and thanks for all you do and sacrifice so the rest of us can go about doing the things we do.... we owe you more than can ever be paid... (IMHO).

LOL! I'm in reserve, remember? I didn't do anything glorious... but I'm glad you think so about our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and Congo. Three wars at the same time...

You should see the photos in this little gallery, just four of them, but... well, see for yourself. http://ww2.tvp.pl/897,20040705105965.strona

Speaking of Iraq... Not sure if these were posted here, but it's about our fellow photographers.

One of our gunships, carrying photojournalists and a TV crew was downed in 2006.

Both photos (c) Maciej Krogulski of TVP

It's sad how photogs get hurt there, too...
