I bought a D80. Finally! I'm so excited, I'll get in on Friday! My first DSLR, I'm upgrading from a Fuji S9500, which is good but not THAT good. The affordable Canon bodies cramped my fingers and have small viewfinders, and I had an OM-1 a while ago but Olympus seems to have painted themselves into a corner. I didn't really consider anyone else.
For lenses, I got the 18-200VR (already arrived) and the 50mm f/1.8 because it's a hundred bucks and a good lens! I also got an extra battery, UV fiter to protect the 18-200, circular polarizer for the 18-200 and a filter adapter so I can use it on the 50mm.
My plan is the use the 18-200mm for it's versatility, and slowly build a collection of high quality prime lenses. I travel a lot and the 18-200mm is a good one lens solution, but for really great shots, like landscapes you scout out, plan timing and wait a week for the right weather, I'd like to have the uncompromised quality of a prime lens. I don't know what's next, maybe a wide angle prime or a good macro lens, but I think I'll be happy for a year or so with what I have. Maybe..
Anyway, another Nikon fan is born. What's our cheer?
