sigma 105 macro

Hi Garth,

On your sample pictures particularily the violet flower and the white daisy with the "creature" on it do you remember how far away you were from the subjects?
Thanks ...

By look at your pics, I think I'll consider a lot to take this lens..
About the price, what do you think? It is fair enough?
How much you sold yours last time?

There's report a bad copy that I must aware of, especially when I buy a used one. Is there a simple check to ensure that the lens isn't a bad copy?

Thanks

This is a great lens, one of my favorites, you can pick up a brand new one (EX DG) for under $400, a good deal. Is 275 a good price? I think that would depend on which version and its condition... As far as bad copies, I am not aware of anything specific to that particular lens.

Having fun with photos. A little searching can go a long way.

I did a search in the manual and page 130 says 'the Super steady
Shot may not be fully effective when the subject is very near. In
such a case turn off SSS and use a tripod'.
So my intuition seems to be on the ball.
When using a tripod, turn off SSS... whether macro shooting or otherwise.
