I have a problem with my canon rebate. I bought a 5D & 580EX back in Oct 06. Mailed all the paper work. waited over 8 weeks, called, have to resubmit never recived ,waited, called $15 rebate issued,UPC Problem, BITCHED, OH will issue another check for $615. Received this check, cashed, money in the bank. Never received the $15 check. Waited.

Weeks pass. 4 days ago receive another rebate check for $630.00. Today receive a rebate check for $330.00 That's $960.00, they still owe me $15.00 what should I do????

I'm thinking send the two rebates back with a letter explaining my situation, and they will mail the $15.00 rebate right?? Cash them both, take the $15.00 they owe me and send them a check or money order for the balance? Take the money & run????

What would you do?????

Cash the $330 check and send a money order for $315 back to the idiots. But call the idiots before you do that, and ask them if it's OK with them :o).

Sent them stuff in December. Called in late January to *****. Sent a fax. Mailed again in early march. Still waiting ... :(

I feel for you, this is one of the reason I don't buy into these Rebate scam anymore, I've never ever received anything back from rebate of any kind, be it from compusa, bestbuy, dell, or whatever, it never failed.

Isn't that illegal? I.e. isn't it Canon's (Young America's) problem if you cash a check they wrote and then cancelled (esp. without telling you)? You can cancel a check, but it doesn't leave you off the hook...

They sent me $25 of the $140 they owed me so far. I will call in and complain as well. But if they're sending double money out to people, all bets are off.

This may mean the end of the Canon Mail-in rebate program. It's an open embarassment for the company at this point, and it may even be hemorrhaging cash.

Since I HATE mail-in rebates WITH AN ABIDING PASSION they might decide to do instant ones instead...i.e. temporary price cuts or dealer incentives. Wouldn't that be easier overall? They then just need to police their dealers a little...which sounds as if it's easier to police than their rebate center!

They didn't issue you a second check without canceling the first one. Don't be a fool and send them a check for $300. Just forget about the $15 and consider yourself lucky that you got any rebate at all.

……money and run!!!

This one is a bit of topic, still got the same problem.

Hmmm, I send my 5D & 580EX rebate certified and return (green) card out 10 days ago out. Of course no green card has arrived yet. The rebate states that YA has to receive all the documentations by April 5th.

I wonder if all the scammed Canon users should call Canon Customer service and complain about those YA idiots. Hopefully after receiving dozens of calls daily Canon would finally realize our frustration and kick some butt in Minnesota.
I know I will call YA and Canon and have them a piece of my mind.

Sorry English ain’t my first language

What I did is returned the duplicate $700 check, and explained to them about my $50 out-standing rebate. By miracle, I recieved the $50 dollar REWARD after another 2 weeks. How lucky I am!

BUT, there is a BUT, my two on-line submissions still showing step 1. Please, Canon and YA, don't send me any more money that doesn't belong to me. OK?

I am pleased to report my rebate only took 4 weeks and they put a stick of BIG RED chewing gum in the envelope with little hearts and flowers n stuff writtten on it along with a note that said "...Thank you - we appreciate your business...."..

And then... a little further down....

".... for a good time call Jenni 8675309 . . ."

Now these guys really know how to impress.

Seriously. Got mine in about 4 weeks. No problems.

You better believe I am...

I'm just going to eat the $15, I'm going to call the 800 # and and tell them they issued me 2 rebates on top of my orginal rebate.

I know it the future I will not be too quick to jump at the rebate offer.

Thanks for all your responces.
Just forget about the $15 and consider yourself lucky that you got any rebate at all.

I think we should all mail a penny to the president of Canon JP.
They must be in terrible financial trouble to be skinning their
best customers this way. It's the least we can do to help.
