Todd, I would first call the company. I just ordered the spyder photo suite pro. This includes the sypder, the OptiCAL software, and Profiler Plus software. Most places want 460.00 Pantone is selling it for 394.00.

I need to buy a spyder for calibrating the monitors in my studio.

Where can I get the best price and which software version should I
go with?

Thanks for the help.

I have been uising there gear for 4 years now and it is a great tool. I do have a huge problem with the nprint profiler softwrae as in it does not work and they have not solved why it does not work with my set up even though it was correctly done many times.

I told them how could they assume that a scanners light source would be the same between all of the brands?

you tell me. I am using a linotype Jade 2 scanner its no cheap scanner and they say that you can use any scanner and even ones under $100.00.

I would love to see some users comments on if it actually works for them.

Scanner based profile packages can work but they often do not. A scanner isn't a Spectrophotometer. Some kinds of printers (dye subs, ink jets with pigmented inks) are not good candidates for scanner based profile packages. You'll need to gather true spectra data to build a good profile. But Spectrophotometers are expensive so you are talking a whole other level of product and expense.

Some scanners are problematic. On your Lino, try to "Scan as Calibration" which provides a raw scan for profile building. Auto scanning routines usually cause these packages problems. --Andrew Rodneywww.digitaldog.net
