Pentax Corp.

Still waiting for the K10D version of the Remote Assistant. Not as patiently as before, but still eagerly awaiting the release of the updated program. Any update on when we can expect the release? Or, do you need a beta tester?

The only remote for the K10 is the wireless remote that will work from in front of or in back of the camera

Yup! Computer controlled shutter release manager with automatic transfer of images to the computer (for construction of a time lapse animation of weather phenomena). Want to get that done before the Pacific High (semi-permanent pressure system) parks itself over the southwest, resulting in little or no clouds for months on end.

I cannot wait for it.

Photozone.de is waiting on it to do pentax lens reviews.

Waiting as well - wouldn't mind support for the K100D either.

One of the main things I want to do when I go to PMA is find out about this, as I and others can really use this in our work.

Pentax has reached the point where they need to step up and make some real photographic tools, not just starter cameras and pancake lenses ? They have made a truly great camera in the K10D and their new * lenses should be some of the best around, I'm very excited about these, but they also need some of the functions the working guys use to make a living.

When I shoot I want to see the image on my monitor so I can see how sharp it is and get a feel for the shot. Looking at a 2.5" lcd does not cut it.

What did you do before digital? Did you take a darkroom with you everywhere? I am sure Pentax is developing products in the priority that they think the majority of users want. I am sure there are far more potential customers for new lenses, new flashes etc. If Remote Assistant wasn't a big hit with the *istD why would they rush it out for the K10D? If your living depends on tethered shooting then maybe Pentax isn't the right system for you. Tethered shooting will bring about a whole raft of new issues for users to complain about that is out of Pentax's hands, Vista compatibility for example. Launch new software too close to an OS release and the software gets blamed for problems that the OS causes. I think Pentax are doing the right thing waiting a while to release it.

On rereading my post I may have sounded a little harsh. I apologise for that.

I was mostly trying to point out that Pentax has to look at the bigger picture and cater to the masses first.
