Another weekend, another Italian Carnival

Thanks Arty, much appreciated. I had some other even more political shots which got winnowed out but the other one that makes me giggle is the huge float with the effigy of Rumsfeld on it and the cheerleaders going crazy in the foreground. Oh I do love a joke in a photo!

Best

Tim
many memorable photographs that you've shown us
I am partial to Hell's Angel, Freud Illustrated (with the female
figure slyly included in the background ...great eye!) and Wet
Nurse with its wonderful movements
I also have to mention Last Year's News as a fine political
commentary ...knocking off noses seems a universal way of showing
disapproval
thanks for sharing this fine series

Such a striking contrast to the Venice shots, but every bit as interesting and fun to view. I like them all! You are giving me the travel bug ... I want to get out and GO somewhere exciting. :)

TFS!

Thank you Joanie, you are v. nice and v. kind!

Travel appears to broaden the lens as well as the mind... that 's why I always really like Skiphunt's stuff on here - he just gets on that bike and heads off into the sunset. My resolution for 2007 is to do the same whenever I can!

Hope you are well

Excellent eye Tim! Superb lens work!
didn't see any excellence.

but: shooting people's backs, doors from the other side of the street or fences is something, i for myself also did.
when i was 6 years old.
with an old brownie for 10 bucks.

ixania,

Don't feel bad that when you were 6 years old you had a soul and inspiration and now in the present you are on meager times. It has happend to many people.

Thank you chaps, you are sterling silver,

Ixy is just p* d because he (she?) has nothing to post but his ( her) rage.

We should all just let it go, apart from baiting him from time to time: it's the photographic equivalent of a high colonic. Unpleasant and possibly unnecessary but cleansing nonetheless.

What a joyous melange of colors! Fun viewing. If we don't let the inner child hold the camera sometimes, we > end up ossified (or just cranky).

Hello Tim,

Yes you certainly are in the right and I knew it as I posted my answer to ix.

But....I'm not perfect, and I don't let anyone pick on my friends. As a matter of fact my original impulse was to say I want to punch ix out. But I thought better of it so I became a little clever and wrote what I did. I feel like I was a little cruel and on reflection I really wouldn't want to hurt anyone in anyway including ixania.

You know something? I still have my Brownie Holiday Flash Camera and I've had it since I was about 4-5 years old. If I could find some 127 film I would use it. Yep I just went upstairs and now the Brownie is in my left hand.

You're a kind and considerate man Peter, and your reply was no less than he asked for!

I bet you could get some film for that Brownie somewhere, and I bet you'd get some really nice shots out of it too.

Best

Thanks Irakly!

I have been offered a free pint in Toronto by Jamie Roberts to commiserate my lack of luck with 35 luxes so you and I may be about to swap lives. I bet that would be fun, for me at least!

It is a long way to go for a pint but Jamie says he as a 35 lux that focusses and I always travel to see a true rarity!

I have been using Photoshop for many years now and do not know if I got it in me for learning another system. I looked at lightroom and it did look interesting.

With my Nikon I shoot maybe 90% in RAW and have a somewhat standard way of working the images over.

I can say that I am not real dissapointed in what I am seeing from jpeg fine from the M8 and will be setting up one of the custom banks for that purpose. I want to get into Black and White so bad I can't stand it. Long ago when I had a darkroom, I did alot of B&W and it still have a strong attraction for me!

Hello Tim,

I am learning kindness and compassion and good mannors from youTim, well you and a few others.

I used to be a little like ixania (and I hope not too much like her) untill a few people here on dpreview had a problem with some of my posts. I was not even aware of how I was coming off to others untill they voiced their concerns. I did some self examination and realized that they were right. I made up my mind to be more considerate of others.

Now if only I could learn to spell! But that may never happen.

P.S. A few years ago I found someone on-line that had 127 film. I should look again. Hmmm, and Ahhhh, Brownie Goodness may be mine once more!

P.S.S. I have a new friend who is going to let me try his M8!! Leica Goodness!! He can try my 1Ds MarkII.
