I'm looking to buy a new Dimage 5, can anyone tell me whats a fair price, I found it for $450.00 at this web-site, http://store.yahoo.com/edigitalmall/dimage-5.html , has anyone used this website before, if so, how was the service etc., I thought that this was a really cheap price for a Dimage 5, am I overlooking something or should I go ahead and buy? Thanks for any advice.

I checked pricewatch.com before buying my D5. Yes the cheapest price is $450, but then you have to worry about whether they really have one in stock, is it new or used, are you getting a reconditioned one, etc. I surfed around and found a site named http://www.buydig.com . On this site, they refer to a bunch of awards and banners (like bizrate.com) which allows you to followup on customer's feedback about past purchases and turnaround time. Anyway, I ended up checking up on several companies before buying the camera at buydig.com for $528 plus shipping. Also, when I chose the slowest/cheapest shipping method of FedEx Ground (which was supposed to take 7-10 days), it left last Thursday and arrived at my home the next Monday.

Sure I spent about $75 more, but I got it fast. I also didn't spend $800 as they are asking from other places.--Dimage5white iBooknothing but OS X

Grey marketing means that the seller isn't an authorized Minolta dealer, but has gotten ahold of some from a legitimate dealer, usually at quantities to get a discount. They then turn around and sell it to you (it's not the black market where it's illegal - thus the name grey). The problem will come if you need to get it repaired under warrantee. You might run into an issue where Minolta may not honor your receipt since you didn't purchase it from a Minolta dealer, but who knows.

How to tell, you might be able to check for authorized Minolta dealers from the Minolta website. Or call and ask the seller (although they could easily lie).

They don't have very good ratings. Check them out before buyin from them. I purchased mine last week from tristatecamera.com for $518.99 + $30 for 2 day shipping. I ordered on Tuesday night through the web, it shipped on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a call from a friendly sales rep (I politely declined all offers to sell me more stuff), and I received it on Friday. Exactly what I ordered. The only thing I didn't like was that my order status was never updated on the web. I had to email customer service for the tracking number, which I received within 20 minutes of the request. I would purchase from them again.
