Wow.

I was lucky enough to be able to take a TV crew, and my 5D camera on stage and shoot Senegalese musician Youssou N'Dour in rehearsal yesterday.

The guy is an idol of mine.

All shot at ISO 3200. Natural stage lighting. I love the 5D's low light performance

Raw files processed by Capture One, no sharpening applied ... at least so far.

How does one get a picture like that at 3200 with no apparent noise?

That's just the 5 itselfD. I haven't used any noise reduction on these shots yet. And some of them are crops too. I think if I pushed the exposures up there'd be some noise in the dark areas.

Google has about 260 pages with it spelled with an extra "f" and a million the other way

In Senegal youssou, youssouf, and youssoufa are all variants, and quite common names.
