Sorry, that was supposed to be a "DX", of course. (Looks suspiciously like a golden DX label on the lens.) I don't own one, but I'm pretty sure it's a 17-55 DX.

If you zoom the image to 300% in Opera 9 browser you will see a big difference between the 3 and the D and X

Not even a good fake.
 
I don't believe that the X refers to the imaging sensor size. It's a carryover from the D1H/D1X --> D2H/D2X naming convention.

I have an F6 and the prism housing is noticeably larger than the D2 series (which I also have). That looks like the D2 series prism housing...

What´s this obsession with the size of the prism house? My old Nikon FE has a considerably smaller prism house than the D2X. Not to mention the Oly OM series...
Ok, so let´s talk DSLR:s, have you never seen a Canon 5D?
Why would a Nikon FF DSLR need to have a prism house the size of the F6?
 
Obviously it's a fake.
