This converter would be used with the S6500fd (=S6000fd)
http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/accessories/accessory.php?id=1142

This 0,8x teleconverter provides an incredibly sweet 22mm equivalent FOV with the S6500/S6000 or S9600/S9100.

Does anyone have any experience with this teleconverter regarding mainly image quality (of border areas). I could not find any real info with search engines or the forum. Any links to user experiences or tests would be nice too. Thanks.

Not many choose the Fuji converters, instead going with the Olympus or Raynox converters. As to quality of Fuji adapters I really can not say, since I use only Olympus which are less expensive than Fuji adapters. Maybe they are good, I have not seen a post about Fuji converters in awhile. Personally for that price I would go with the Olympus WCON lens, excellent glass.

if people are using other wide angle converters with the 6xxx/9xxx cameras, I'd be happy to hear about the experiences with them too. How they work, how much distortion, softening, corner softening or CA they produce, etc, etc. Wide angle convertors seem to be very rare among users anyway...?

Well, I've heard that Olympus converters are high quality, but generally I've heard of people using their tele converters. I would expect the Fuji's 0,8x wide converter that is specially designed for the lens to work better than other brands' wide converters. And with Fujis converters you don't need adapters.

Maybe so, but I've heard that Fuji's glass is not as good. But like I said, I know next to nothing about Fuji converters, only that I've read they are not as good as Olympus or Raynox. I think you'll find some slight distortions with any converter from time to time. I have and use both the Olympus TCON and WCON adapters and they work very well for me on my S5500. But then the lens just screw right onto my camera without using any adapters, with the S6500 or S9100 you will have to use an adapter and that could affect the quality I guess. But many here use the Olympus converters with the S9100 without any ill effects.

I had tested my Oulympus WCON07 (with rear thread 55mm) on a s6500fd (the front thread size of s6500fd is 58mm, I used a 58mm to 55mm step down ring to attach the WCON07 (0.7X) to s6500fd.

It did not do very well on the s6500fd, I could not get wider result, the reason was that I need to zoom in my s6500fd lens a little bit to avoid getting dark corners, thus I ended up with about 28mm wide angle effect only. I guess it has something to do with the difference in sizes of WCON07 and s6500fd lens elements.

I suggest you check Raynox website ( http://wwww.raynox.com ) for the wide angle convertors which can be used with s6500fd or simply use the Fuji official optional wide angle convertor for s6500fd.

Too bad, the WCON07 could not work on s6500fd, but I got some reasonalble results when used with my F30.

Thanks Danny. This information is useful, in that at least I can forget the WCON and look for the other options. Btw, the F30 pics with the WCON look pretty good!
