***********************************************************You have made my day! And as far as I am concerned (of course,
nobody put me in charge here), you get Photo of the Day from the
Olympus Talk forum for it!

Hold on while I put on my anti-flame suit...
Anyone else notice that a lot of posts here would better belong in
"Open Talk" or "Samples and Galleries"? I have no problem with
samples used to illustrate a technical issue with Olympus cameras
but I'm gagging on the volume of unrelated postings and images that
serve no purpose but to elicit "cutesy" responses. If you check out
some of the other camera Forums, this type of 'noise' is much lower
or non-existent.
By all means continue to post these here if you won't do so in the
proper forums, but PLEASE prefix the subject with "OT" for off
topic so that those that are seeking more technically useful
subjects can easily sift through these postings. And while you're
at it, why not include the Olympus model in the subject so that we
can easily skip past images from models we don't care to see?
Everytime someone has to click on the post to find out which camera
the samples are from, it causes yet another unnecessary hit on
Phil's server, slowing down the system for everyone.
Don't read too much into the profile. I've been using the Olympus forum for almost two years and have seen many come and go. The good' ol days some might say...before the ego stroking critiques outnumbered the technically useful postings in Olympus Talk.Jared - I just checked your profile - 26 messages since february
02,2002. You might want to choose your battles a little more
carefully. The next time you post a pic at samples and galleries
let us know so we can check it out, OK ?
Kim, no apologies necessary. My post was not directly at anyone in particular. My apologies to you Jared, I did not mean or intend to make it
sound that you should leave the forum. Guess I took it personally.
I can take it. It has some truth to it , so of course, I do not
like it! Do you accept the apology?

was i supose to post this at the top or bottom? I am serious, I
have been wondering. I try to post at bottom it there is a photo
involved.
Oh jeeze.. Not that. Please. While I don't have a problem with top posting most people bottom post. Why ask those people to change? Just search usenet for "top post" and you'll get an earful.I agree with Juli about deleting the photos. Also, when we reply to
a post we should insert our messages at the top of the post we are
replying to if we don't delete the first poster's text.
Ego stroking critiques? As one of the "more mainstream" members of the audience I have to tell you that I find this last post an insult- as I'm sure you intended it to be. I've never resorted to name calling here or in any other forum but here I go- you are an arrogant snob.Don't read too much into the profile. I've been using the Olympus

Realistically, I expect things to get worse rather than better.
It's typical of most forums to be less technically
useful/interesting as its audience becomes more mainstream.
Ah........the good ol' days. I remember those so fondly - when people were tolerant and kind to each other.Jared Hunter wrote:

--DuaneI am LOL! I am the first of 3, but I think there is a bit ofI can sum this "thing" up in one post. Jared may be a first born in
his family. Over achiever buy the rules type guy. Ergo may be the
baby of the family. Likes to play, have a good time, and get
attention. Then there are the middle children...the peace makers.
You know who you are.
So since we are one big happy family, and to borrow some words from
rodney king, "can't we all just get along?"
I am also a first born, but i have had counseling for that. My wife
made me.
hippp
1.2.&3 in me, besides the blond thing! Is that what counseling is
for?

Sometime I forget to do this but do try.
When replying just delete the part of posts before your reply that
do not pretain to your reply - and/or delete the .jpg from pop up
pics of previous posts.

postings since them seem to be primarily argumentative. I think
your original posting was correct. If Jared doesn't like the
flavor of the community, perhaps he should look elsewhere for
something more to his liking. Or better yet, he could stick around
for a while, pick up some valuable information, and get to know
folks better. The "flavor" of the forum has been known to change
from week to week. Maybe he will like it better next week or next
month.
