Hi, there,

I plan to buy a S40 from photoalley and pricematch it to A&M photoworld. I've never used amex pm before and I have this small question:

I am buying a "S40 kit"(with listed acc) from photoalley and it is simply a "S40" on A&M's site. So will amex say they are different products and refuse to pm it?
BTW, does anyone have experience with CNET advantage $100 pricematch before?
many thanks, guys.

Kod,

Good question...my advice is to contact Amex and ask them. I've had similar questions in the past and have been able to get clarification by calling. They have a special phone number just for this purpose.

Call 800 557-8317 and choose the option that gets you to a human.

Regards... Tim

As I understand from other posts DPR about pricematching when

buying a kit is that it will be prorated. I would purchase the camera alone myself.

What exactly is in this "kit"? Is it just the regular packaging that the camera comes in? If so, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I bought a S30 "kit" from RitzCamera.com and pricematched it without a worry. There was nothing extra in the "kit"--just the standard packaging that you'd get everywhere else.

Michael is exactly right. Usually places like Ritz and Photo Alley add in something insignificant, such as 10 sheets of paper, and market it as a kit. It is my belief that is done because of their own price matching policies. If they are strict about it, it is impossible to match. I went through this with Ritz in great detail. I finally prevailed because I had asked that very question before buying, and an unsuspecting person apparently gave me the wrong answer (according to a Ritz' supervisor). I wouldn't worry about Amex doing this. However, if in doubt, ask before buying, preferably by email, so you have it in writing.
