--because an DSLR is likely to give you the good results that you're looking for...but you may quickly tire of all the other qualities associated with owning/using one.

I had to go down the SLR path three times to convince myself just how much I hated the hassle of heavy lenses, dust on the sensor, LOUD shutter slap, and the high price of equipment. I wasn't totally amazed with image quality either...especially all the time required in PS to tweek the images. It quickly became quite a boar.

I'll stick with the FZ50. But Stujoe is right...now you can have the best of both worlds. Nothing wrong with different tools for different jobs.

dSLRs definitely aren't for everyone. That is why, even though you would have to pry my D50 from my cold, dead hands, I recommend the FZ series to a lot of people. And, although I have never used it, I have seen enough photos to know that right now the FZ50 is about as close as you can get without becoming one of the dreaded 'Them'. ;)
