is there a onlineshop who's accepting preorders of the 1DMkIII?
when will the online sellers list the 1DMkIII?

Tallyn's Professional Photographic is starting a list. I'm pretty sure they're not taking credit card information or anything that serious just yet, just putting together a email list for getting out the information. If I understand it right though, the people on this email list get priority in line once the prices are set and they start taking orders for reals.

My guess is in the US anyway it will be the MSRP of $4,000. I think the demand will be so high that there will be no need to sell for less. I and my wallet hope I am wrong though.

Just spoke with Tallyn's and they will be launching their first update to all pre-signup customers late this afternoon. They will be announcing sale pricing on all of the new Canon products.

Come on. No need to bash Tallyn's. If Canon only has so many cameras to distribute between so many dealers, how can you fault Tallyn's for getting what sounded like their evenly distributed share?

In that situation you wouldn't have gotten your camera any faster if you pre-ordered from one of the other midwest retailers who got limited numbers as well, right? (Hope you appreciate the defense, Scott :p)

fair enough.. I didn't mean to bash... but if they come out tomorrow, with an offering Sale price of eg. $4299.. and then take a hundred or so pre-orders... just be advised that just because you were able to preorder today/tomorrow, does not by default mean you'll get your camera before somebody else that may not preorder for yet another month or so..

It does kinda stink how Canon (and probably others) chooses to allocate their shipments.. preorder qtys do NOT guarantee a shop enough units to cover whatever they're preordering. Allocations seem to based on long-term historical ability of shop to continue to always move product.

I don't know how many they got or when.. That latter email posted indicated they were likely to get just 1. Hopefully Tallyn's can address whether they think that times and methods have changed for them and that this won't be the case with the 1dIII?
