i've been building up my collection of stock images and i've been keywording them, by creating an excel spread sheet, image name, title, keywords, description. i then copy and paste this information after uploading them to alamy. it's getting a little messy so i'm looking at keywording via the iptc tag. i know it makes sense.

if i cut to the chase, what's the best software for adding in keywords. i've tried adobe bridge and also had a quick look at the offering from microsoft (photoinfo).

any suggestions/recommendations?

thanks

Iview Media Pro offers explicit support for IPTC tags.

You can still get it for $200, in a few months it will be sold as Expression Media by Microsoft for $300. If you buy now, you can upgrade for free.

There are some bundling offers now as well, with Nik Filters and Capture One.

Good luck,
Mike

I'm not familiar with Canon software, but the free software that comes with Nikon professional cameras (or used to), Nikon View, is absolutely the best thing I've used. It will batch caption and keyword as the files are downloaded to your computer from the camera. The beauty of it is the metadata is added to the raw file so that any program that uses IPTC can make use of this data so you never have to keyword or caption your output jpegs or any other file again.

Unfortunately, most of the other software can't write to raw files. I thought Iview was an excellent program until I realized it wasn't actually writing to the raw files and that data couldn't be read by any other program.

Perhaps the Canon software does the same thing? Nikon View has been around at least for the last 6 years.
