Oh well, I do like the 300 F4 AFS - here's one of mine, this one of a sample of a few I shot straight to jpeg in sRGB mode on the D200, with some small radius usm applied in pp:



A tremendously sharp and contrasty lens.

I, too, am a big fan of this lens. Here is a collection of zoo shots. The first image was taken at Lincoln Park Zoo in downtown Chicago about a year ago. The remaining images were all taken just last Saturday at Brookfield Zoo in suburban Chicago. All are with a D200.

I had decided to hold on till next year before buying a new lens and this thread will make me flinch.
