Hey Kodakians,

Back in March '04 me and the boys went down to Tucson Arizona for some sun, warmth, and spring training baseball. We also visited the Pima Air and Space Museum while we were there.

Go to the "showoff.htm" link and surf into the "Pima Air and Space Museum" link to see them all.

I used to be a plane buff when I was a kid, had lots of Airfix, Tamiya and Revell scale models. Thanks for the tour. Makes me feel old that the Blackbird isn't a operational secret plane anymore.
Can't name all the planes in your series.

F4 Phantom
B58 Hustler
52
Constellation
B36
A guppy for transporting parts
A-10
SR-71
A Sikorsky Skycrane.

Nice photos.

We have an air show here every year. Last year a plane crashed in a neighborhood house, only killing the pilot. I got a picture of the plume of smoke, right after it happened. We think the old fighter plane just lost power, and it dropped like a rock as soon as the air speed got slow enough. Apparently, the pilot was looking for a place...an empty field to put down the aircraft...he could of bailed out, but elected to stay with his plane to reduce human casaulties.

Nice photos, did you by chance get by Davis Montham AFB? They have a huge mothball fleet of planes out there that is a sight to behold. Planes from all over the world are stored there.

I grew up on AFBs (Fairchild and Barksdale) and saw a lot of B52s and heard! and saw a lot of Blue Angels airshows. Been to the Smithsonian a few times, but I've never been to Pima, which I think would be the most fascinating. I love old airplanes.

When were you at Barksdale? I spent 6 years down there spinning wrenches on the BUFFs and on the KC-135s from 1980 to 1986.

I was a military brat. Dad was a Capt. and later LtCol. I spent the first 5 years of my life at Fairchild and then from 6-15 at Barksdale.

I just went down there a couple of summers ago and visited my old house where I grew up just across the barbed wire fence (barksdale) Many fond memories of the officers club and pool - thanks to dear old dad.

Not sure what a BUFF is, but I think it would have to do with transport like the KCs. My dad was with SAC for a long time. During VN I never saw him much.

I used to play little league at barksdale. Lots of fun.

I lived in Bossier/Shreveport area from about 65 -75, across the barbed wire meant just down the street from one of the guard shacks, the one closest to the hospital.
