I ordered the Link-Delight MC-30 wireless remote system for use with a D200 on eBay and it arrived (in the U.S.) in about two weeks (I think from Hong Kong). No instructions but it works like a charm.

The receiver simply plugs into the connector on the front of the camera (the one with the cap that falls off); the plug goes in a bit stiffly.

You can press the remote shutter control half-way to focus and all the way to shoot - just like on the camera.

I set the camera with the receiver on a table in a room about 10 feet from the door to the room; then I walked down a hallway about 50 feet, effectively 60 feet away on a 90 degree angle - it worked A-ok; definitely doesn't need line of sight. I haven't tested yet to see how far it can go on a straight line with line of sight.

For $40 including shipping from half way around the world it's a very good value.

How about sharing the link?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - ' Wow! What a ride!'

and it appears to be the wireless remote AND the ADIDT wired remote bundled together. For a few dollars extra.

It would be particularly attractive if you have both Nikon and Canon gear. For the added cost of the Canon version of the ADIDT wired remote (very inexpensive), you can use the wireless setup on both your Canon and Nikon bodies.

Thanks for the wireless report, Yada !

Bob, the one you found looks very similar and seems to include an extra feature for pretty close to the same price. Looks like they could be designed and manufactured by the same people. If you want a wireless capability these things provide good value. Enjoy. Yada

How does it work with MLU?

What about the receiver that connects to the camera 10 pin connector. Does it just hang?

I've been looking at this one:

This one is IR, I think the one you bought is RF. It is also more compact but it is about twice the price...

RF is more expensive, can go through walls (not line of sight), generally better range.

Both RF wireless remotes support "half-press" (e.g. focus lock - in AF-S- and meter/exp lock), and full press.

Mirror Up is supported as follows:
  • first full press raises the mirror
  • second full press activates the shutter, then releases the mirror

In reply to the questions:

1. The unit easily goes 10meters; I've tested it to twice that (and it might go further, but I ran out of room).

2. The part that connects to the 10 pin connector just hangs (I guess it could be velco'd or something).

3. Don't know about the FCC/interference issues - haven't noticed any issues along those lines

The only thing cooler than this is Nikon Remote Capture; it is tethered, but the ability to remotely trigger the camera via a wired connection AND see the image quickly on a computer monitor AND control virtually all the camera settings remotely is even better than remotely triggering the shutter via a wireless connection; but if all you want to do is trigger the shutter, this is a very good solution.
What kind of effective range are you getting? Does their claimed
5-10m hold up?
