Having taken 5,000+ photos with my D200 this has never happened to me before. Whilst doing some corporate work, the first three shots taken none of the the images recorded to the card.

I turned the camera off, removed the card and re-inserted and everything worked fine! Has anybody had this as it was a new one on me. Hoping it was just a frieky blip.

Many thanks

I've had that happen. Shot a couple of bursts and pressed the "review" button and saw the last image I shot before the bursts.

Remarked to a friend about it, did it again, same result.

Turned the D-200 off and on again.

Reshot more and all was fine.

It IS a computer afterall.

Go figure.

I have stopped using Lexars with the D200.

Steve,

I have shot about the same number of images with my D200 and this has occured on three different occasions the realy odd thing is twice it was in the same building several months apart, I have now got into the habit of checking the download light after each sequence, I read somewhere on this forum last year that someone sent theirs to Nikon and a component was replaced but didn't see a followup so I don't know if it was fixed.

As my camera is perfect in every other respect I will only send it for repair if it fails completly.
Regards,
Bruce.
P.S. This doesn't happen with my other DSLRs so its not a memory card problem.

I had the same thing happen on Sunday with a Sandisk Extreme 3. I took the card out and re inserted it and everthing was fine. I figured the card was loose or something. Now I'm paranoid.

just for starters. There are other threads too, where people have encountered this problem using both Lexar and SanDisk cards.

This missing frame problem is not to be confused with the dark frame problem some have reported, i.e. an all black shot recorded with a left weighted histogram to match. For this missing frame problem, the camera acts like it never took the shot, even though the flash fired, the mirror went up, etc. So there aren’t any dark frames, they are flat out missing!

It seemed to be a some sort software problem at first, just turn off the camera, and then turn it back on to “reboot” it. But Nikon USA decided to replace an image control board on my D200 last summer under warranty, so that would indicate it’s more than just software. My D200 been working great ever since, excluding the in body flash burning out, which was also fixed under warranty last fall.

I was shooting child's play, and my DW was videotaping next to me.
On the Video, you could hear 45 mirror/shutter clicks from my D70.

Even though I never deleted any images, only 35 images were recorded to the CF card. Sent to Nikon for a free repair under warranty.

They replaced something (Sorry I don't recall what it was, but it was before the BGLOD episode)

Took a picture a few weeks ago, and up popped the second last picture I had taken. Tried a few more shots. Same thing every time! I turned the camera off and on again, and it's been fine ever since.

I've never heard of this happening on a D70, only on a D200!

Wow! What did Nikon fix on it?

I somehow got a pure white photo, shortly after getting my D70 a few years ago. I thought I was using P mode and had the exposure set properly, but something must have bben wrong.

It only happened that one time, and I’ve got 6000+ shots on my D70. I just attributed it to a short circuit between the headphones!

I had the exact same experience last week while at Disney with my D200. Three consecutive frames failed to record any data. I was using a SanDisk card and had an SB-800 on as well. The battery was fully charged and I was shooting RAW only (not RAW+JPEG) After turning the camera off and then on again all was well and the camera functioned well the rest of the trip.
