Focus on imaging show UK

Hi Tony,

I recently bought a D200 and I will definitely go to Focus, but not on the Sunday. On my agenda is to play with a D2X to check out how the HSC mode works. If I like it, I will think about adding a used D2X for bird photography from fixed hides. Also, I'll try to have a go with the 600/4 lens, especially if I can get it mounted on a solid enough tripod. I want to see how/whether I could get on without VR on that lens. I'll also take a good look at the 300-800 lens at the Sigma stall. Also, it'll be interesting to see any demos of Capture NX and the soon-to-be-released Capture One Pro 4. Also, it would be useful to try out the Nikkor and Tokina 12-24 and the Sigma 10-20 at the same time (it's proved impossible in stores).

Hmm, sounds like I better plan for a whole day. There's quite a bit to look at. Are you coming?

Any D200 users going to this event in the UK, what are you hoping
to find there? I haven't been for a couple of years and am looking
forward to it. What are the highlights likely to be and do you plan
on taking your camera?
cheers Tony

Hi, I will be going but not sure which day yet because of work committments. I want to check out Kata rucksacks, Gitzo tripods, etc........ I am afraid I may get involved with a couple of Nikon lenses, should probably leave the plastic at home.

I always go, if I haven't a shoot on, but not on the Sunday. Over the past few years the show has moved to wedding album / software marketing and camera dealers with offers (Basically less VAT prices). The general consensus

Canon dropped it last year and I'm sure others have this year. Before that you could see the demise of Minolta and Pentax by looking at their empty stands. Canon seem to be blitzing PMA where I hear they have the largest stand by far. It's a big anniversary year for them.

This is not to say it isn't worth attending but expect the Nikon stand to be very busy. david

I'm going on monday. Went last year just to have a look really, this year I'll be looking at getting hands on with a nikon 10.5 fish, tokina 10 17 fish, any 360 pano stuff, nikon 17-55 (or the tok 16 50 if it's there) and a 70 200 vr too.

As mentioned I only went last year to have a look around, didn't pay any attention to prices of substantial equipment so I'll be very pleased if i can get the fisheye for less. (the others will have to wait as I want them "on drip").

I went yesterday and the show is very good. Lots of goodies and you always end up buying something that is not crucial!

Having attended the Chris Burfoot's (Flash Centre) studio flash presentation, I had to buy the tri-flector.

It is certainly worth a visit to the NEC.
