Hi guys,

I've bought my FD31FD back in December.
I will post some photos soon.

I am very happy with the camera, yet, there are 2-3 things that I don't like and I wanted to confirm with you folks. Not sure if these are confirmed flaws of this camera.

1) There's no webcam capability. Is there any trick / hack for making the camera work in webcam mode? If there is that would be great as the cam sesitivity is GREAT!

2) When taking pics in low light conditions, outside you can observe a clear blueish tint. The snow is blueish, instead of white. Does anyone else have this problem? Is the only solution post processing?

Thank you,

B

Howdy,

Snow is tough and often a blueish tint is present, I think white balance may help.

But I want to comment on the webcam question. I do not know if there is a hack or work-around to use your F31as a webcam, but I would think since you can get a good web cam for 30 bucks why would you want to have your f31 on all the time as a webcam. I think even if it could work that it would be hard on the camera/sensor. Just my opinion.

Post some pics of the blue tint when you can. Someone here can help you dial it in.

Sorry for the delay folks.
I have been pretty busy with lots of things.

I will post a photo with the blue snow issue. It is not fringing.
I am surprised that no one else saw this problem.

I wonder if it is a camera issue.
Will be back soon.

BTW, given the typo in the camera model I will open a new thread, once I am ready to post the photo.

As for the webcam capability.

I was thinking of this camera making a good webcamera simply because of the excellent sensor which would allow it to offer great pic in low light conditions. Web cams have a tough time handling that.

Unless you go to the latest and most expensive models low light will mess up your live feed. Thanks,

Snow is bluish, not white. The camera doesn't know that we don't think so. :)

Have you tried the snow scene mode?

1. The F30/31 aren't webcams, and as of right now - they will not function as web cams.

2. You have multiple solutions to this problem - 1. Use "Shade" white balance. 2. Correct the white balance problem in post processing.
