Sears 1:1.7 Auto k-mount lens

I have just acquired this lens from eBay. I would like to know if anyone has any information on this lens? It is marked "Auto Sears MC lens Japan 1:1.7 50mm.

I have a sears 50mm 2.0 k mount made in Japan that came with a richo camera that I bought in the early 80's. All manuel of course. The lens is as good or better than my pentax smc 1.7. In other words, it is extremely good. Hope you find the same performance in your 1.7.

I wonder if it is a tokina. They made the Sears 80-200/4.

I have an old Korean made Sears 28/2.8 but my A28/2.8 is a little better. I do not know who made that one for them. Anyone know?

My dad was an executive with Sears for almost 30 years. While not in that particular area of merchandise, I learned that hard line products, like lenses, were rebadged cream of the crop in most all cases. In its glory days, Sears had the power to get just about any company to do what they wanted, or they would simply buy the company and do it themselves. I would not hesitate to buy any Sears lens if it fit my needs. Many major companies like RCA, Whirlpool, etc were almost totally controlled by Sears, and quality standards were often higher than for the brands own product. Trust me, I grew up with tons of under the table info.

I have a Sears 135 f2.8 which i aquired on ebay but have no idea who makes it. I have been very impressed with it on my K100D

Is this lens fully manual ? Or has it an A on the aperture ring ? Does it work in AV mode ?
