If you had to choose 5 backdrops to use forever...What would you choose?

White
Black
????....For special occation , ect..ect...

Hard choice but it would really help me with my choices...

i'd pick a 500 foot backdrop thath ad say 20 feet of each colour that i might fancy. No seriously, i don't have any backdrops but i'd pick black, white, grey, probably a brown and maybe something patterened for more majestic and older feeling shots. I don't know the reputability of, say a Paisley patterened background. Would be fun though lol.

I have searched backdrops for probably 3 years and never have ordered one. I have made a couple but never bought..

There are too many choices and most look the same to me. Then you will have one that is maybe 75$ and one that is 400$ and to me there isnt any real difference? Maybe there is but I just dont know it??

If everyone kind of gives their picks it should help me out a little in deciding to finally buy a few....

Thanks to all ...

My vote is white with good lighting. White only can be a good living.
It can be used to mask and isolate almost any object and the background
replaced in processing.

Black would be second.

There are two sided backgrounds from Westcott and others that
make sense. I'm partial to the classic earth tones along with dark
blues. Looks like a couple of earth tones fills my quota of five?

I know its kind of a hard question, but interesting non the less...I hope, with the help of others, that this can help to narrow down my choices..Its hard to choose between thousands of choices......

So with the help of my online friends, im sure we can come up with something.....Thanks for particapating..

you didn't like that last post. What about a simple green/blue screen? Then you could create any background.

... personally, I'm still disappointed with extraction programs/software, even on a blue or green screen. There really is nothing like nailing the photo in camera (at this point) in my opinion. Cut-outs, extractions, etc just seem a little fake.

All that said, my four backgrounds are white, black, tan, and gray. The fifth is simply "location".

Light Grey, Dark Grey, Black, White and well... dunno!?
Well, if I could only choose five those would be the four I'd choose ... and a chroma key background.

The Light Grey, Dark Grey, and White backgrounds can be turned into colored backgrounds (more or less) with colored gels on background lights. That makes these very useful. Everyone needs a black background for time to time, and the chroma key background (I think green chroma key is better than blue) is my fifth choice because I do a lot of advertising and web work that requires chroma key.
