B&W Tri-X and Tri-X + Red Action

The Tri-x action works well, but the Tri-X W/red filter only gives me a totally black image. I've tried applying that action to an rgb image and applying to the Tri-x image. Could you explain?

I've developed a set of actions to emulate Tri-X film and also an
action that includes a red filter as well. I'm including some
samples below and you can get more info and download from this page:

A couple of people have mentioned it creating a black image and for others, it works fine. I've been trying to duplicate the problem, but I haven't succeeded yet. Could you post a 500px wide copy of the original image that is turning black. That way I can check as a reference.

An alternative work around for the moment, and one that might help to troubleshoot the problem:

1) Apply the trix filter then press 'alt-ctrl-z' twice, which will unmerge the layers.

2) Next select the 'background copy' layer and add a new channel mixer adjustment layer. On the channel mixer menu click 'load' and browse to the 'tri-x' folder that you unzipped and select 'trix_red_filter.cha'

3) hide everything except the 'background copy' and the adjustment layers and then 'merge visible' the layers.
4) Do an autolevels on the new b&w image and its done.

Thanks

I copied all files to both C:\program files\adode\photoshop 6.0\photoshop actions\tri-x AND C:\program files\adobe\photoshop 6.0\plugins\tri-x and copied and renamed the trix_curve06.acv to 05 in both places. I still get a completely black image.Any ideas?...Bob jones
Disregard my previous instructions about using the reccomended
file. He did exactly the correct thing. Follow his instructions and
you'll be good to go.

I just had another guy with the same problem you are experiencing try the action manually and found that it was file path related. I would suggest trying to apply each of the steps called out in the action manually and see what happens. In any case all the necessary files are there for you to recreate the action so that it will work on your system.

Cheers
