These shots were taken on the CERN Laboratory site. Some of the old equipment from the particle accelerators has been cleaned up and laid out in a scientific sculpture garden. The shapes and colours appealed.

Interesting equipment. Looks like far out brewery! :-)

Best,

--The first image is what I imagine a mature R2D2 would look like.

This equipment is used to brew up new nuclear particles, No?

Perhaps the first new particle found could be called the euro.

Wait that is what happened when they smashed the dollar.

Sorry no politics

How did you manage to get so close to the equipment?

Sorry for my attention deficit disorder but my mind is just racing from one thought to the next without any consideration for follow through.

I'd actually forgotten about these shots until I was transferring galleries between Pbase and Smugmug. They were taken in April last year when my wife and I took a school party to Geneva and CERN. The equipment is no longer in use but does look very Jules Verne. Unfortunately there are no wider views of the garden - it is surrounded by some rather ugly concrete buildings I seem to remember.
