Any other pro photographers here use Pentax?

Not my primary employment but shot several weddings and some other projects last year including having images published. I do not do sports photography and if I did I would have to move to another system. For what I do, Pentax rocks and always has. Shooting Pentax since 1972.

Be well,

I guess the purpose of you replying is to get attention of people
to your cow pic and also the link in your signature then...

As in the thread on Benjamin got banned, some said there are many
other pro photographers got banned and left the forum as well, so I
was wondering who are the pro photographers here in Pentax SLR
forum :)

You have your right to believe what you believe in...and reply
again with your cow and link in your signature ;)

You mined e-mail address from this site to "invite" people to your new Pentax forum when you yourself do not even use Pentax gear? You must be doing it to help all of the Pentax users out there. That or you want people to go to your retail site http://sh*****ki.com .

Very transparent.

During my initial setup of PW, I emailed only those who willing to have their email address shown to the public and allow members to contact them. I only invite people once (some being accidentally duplicated). Some members got angry with the emails, so I no longer send email invite to people since long.

I do not promote PW directly here in dpreview, but can't I still put my website in my signature? If so, then all members with website links in their signature should all be removed?

Check my initial post, did I not ask a valid question?

Oy, give a guy a break! This forum is becoming more and more foul-tempered. Hardly worth bothering about anymore they way people jump all over each other. I for one was interested in the answers to this question, but sadly like so many threads here, it looks like this too will devolve into a meaningless shouting match about past wrongs.

Please, for the love of humanity, just try being nice once in awhile. See? It doesn't hurt!

I use a camera professionally (though that's far from all I do at work) but it's not a Pentax. Personally I'm looking to buy a K10D and if I like it enough, I may recommend it or the K1D or whatever comes out this year for work use.

Yes the question is valid, but may I ask why do you ask? You do not use Pentax gear, so then what is your in Pentax? Why not Nikon? Oh that is right, NikonWorld.com is already taken...

You must not have recieved his unsolicited "invitation" e-mail, I did and had to change/hide my e-mail address at this site. I wanted to keep it public but I cannot. I have no use for spammers.

Why does it bother you so much that he has a website called PentaxWorld? God get over it. This used to be a fun place to learn about photography and Pentax. Now we need to answer why we posted a question. Room over at Pentax world for a new member. I'm outta here!

Interesting insight from someone with 15 Pentax posts on his account.

That's right. I'll be bothered again if the next dude harvests emails. Bad style, bad promotion, IMO. But hey, I'm not bothered anymore.

I make a living off photojournalism, second is private events/weddings, 3rd is printing pics, 4th is odd side cash jobs for beer money :)

But overall yes, I am about 75% dependant on my Pentax cameras to help bring in the income, 20% on computers, 5% on cash-4-beer :)
if you wish I will post the link again to my best of 06 stuff.

I don't care what his web site is called. What angers me is the way he sent spam to e-mail addresses he took from this site. If you read the thread you would probably be able to figure that out.

You don't have to answer anything or answer to anybody, as long as you follow the rules and don't mine e-mail address from this site for spam advertising.

Good bye. Enjoy your new forum. I've lurked there for a while and I am unimpressed.

You may have to do better than that for the IRS. LOL
Back to the topic at hand...

Actually, the IRS wouldn't mind at all. Officially, you have to show an INTENT to make a profit for three out of five years in the USA. Most years, I do not make a profit, particularly when I deduct mileage at 44.5 cents per mile for travel to and from photoshoots locations. And I tend to take pictures in a lot of places. :-) I try to show a profit by earning income and residuals from my stock photography.

So yes, I have a photgraphy business as defined by the IRS. Woudl I consider myself a working professional? No, because that is neither my sole nor primary source of income. But I AM an entrepenuer with a small sideline photo business and deduct expenses and equipment as appropriate.

Let me add a "me too" to this. It annoyed me so much I made a complaint to "Uncle Phil" about it , though I didn't make any public complaint in the forum. No action was taken so I presumed that nobody else was upset by it; it's quite good to see I wasn't the only one who found the behaviour of Mr KKK to be totally unacceptable.

I'll take your word for it, I didn't bother after one day of it.

I'm always curious as to what gets people so upset about this type of spam. I assume you're also banning all of the retailers, politicians and charitable organizations that send you junk post mail? I mean, they killed an actual tree to spam your post mailbox, and you actually had to get up from your computer to walk to your mailbox to retrive it! That must have REALLY pi$$ed you off! But fortunately here on the internet we can choose to not publish, share or disclose our email addresses if you're so inclined to get so upset recieving an email from someone wanting to share a resource with you.

"Share a resource with you"? Good grief, I get hundreds of spam a day wanting to "sharing a resource" with me. It's spam, no matter what you want to call it. I dislike - no, hate - spam. I will continue to complain about it, whether my complaint has any affect or not.

The end never justifies the means. Spam is bad - no matter what "resource" the spammer wishes to "share" with me. Consider this: why did Mr KKK choose to spam all the users of this forum (with public addresses) by email to promote his new forum rather than just posting a single announcement in this forum?

That is merely an un-personalized nuisance. No personal data-hogging behind the scenes.
I mean, they killed an actual tree to spam your post mailbox,
Yep, you can rest assured that I don't like it. But what would you do? Complain by letter and use another tree? Or by email and give them another address they can exploit. Hm...
and you actually had to get up from your computer to walk to your
mailbox to retrive it! That must have REALLY pi$$ed you off!
Actually, I find walking not too bad.
But
fortunately here on the internet we can choose to not publish,

And if we share, it is to be able for forum members to contact one another. Not for someone to exploit it.

Address mining is bad. What one might think of as good intentions is a privacy threat to someone else.
