tripod for lx2

I just bought a Slik CF tripod, model 640 I think, with a small Novaflex ballhead. The whole deal comes in at under 2 pounds and extends to just over 5 feet without the center column. This is fine as I am only 5'3". But then this cost almost $400. It's great for taking on LOOOONG hikes though.

I recently got the Manfrotto 725. It ws just over $100 and has a ball head plus a quick release plate which I find useful. This one can hold more weight than you need for an LX2 but I have a heavier second camera. There are several other models in the $90-$100 range that would work just fine. Mine is just about 3lbs and came with a carry case which is nice. I think their tripods are a good value.

Great range..even the budget stuff kills other makes...

Top end stuff is as good as Manfrotto...

Would't use anything else...

Check out the CX range...

I have a 440 for the car...£30 odd...cheap, light, built well and compact...it rocks...worth twice that if more.

Still I have forgotten to tell I wish to do panoramic a photo of 360 degrees and a photo of landscapes what tripod to me is necessary for such things?

Any of the tripods suggested will do what you want. And any of them are light weight. It all comes down to how much you want to spend, and making the choice. The tripod I suggested from Ritz is a little more than a pound in weight, and that's what I do with it, take Panoramas and Landscapes.

http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/manfrotto/cache/offonce/pid/1799

i want 728B DIGI COMPACT 3W TRIPOD BLK its good tripod for lx2?

please help me choose
Bit like saying who was the best military leader ever in the world...Napoleon or Caesar? Personal coice..

Many pros swear by the famous italian Manfrotto..and having used them, I have nothing but good to say about them...top tier stuff...

On the other hand I myself like Velbon more...and feel the quality is as good, but better value in some cases. I find even the cheapo Velbons are pretty good...well very good!

Both are well respected companies (pros and amateurs)...

It is really your choice...being honest..you wont go wrong with either really...

Right!

Hmmm

ISt off set yourself a budget..a sensible one. If you are just starting off..do not be tempted to just throw money at gear....you can do that later on.

Panoramic heads are the ideal soloution to of course panoramic shots...but it will cost you.

Ball heads are popular with scenic shooters..as you can adjust them easily..and at odd angles (most landscape areas are not flat!)

3/4 way heads are general purpose....not ideal for scenic..but you can use them

The following shots were taken handheld, put together with autostitch..

Now .....your choice!

I suggest ist a decent normal tripod...

Later a semi pro one..(where you can change the heads)...and if you feel really serious about panoramics...you can get one.

you made this photos with lx2 ?

without tripod?
No tripod...

Top two KM5D

Bottom one FZ-5 (and this is huge over 20 shots)

Look here:

Superior at blending (which you need)...

I am not suggesting not using a tripod, it will make life easier...just I like to break all the rules ;-)

If I had the LX-2 it would have made no difference to the shots I showed you..or any other camera for that matter.
