Please. This is getting ridiculous.

Thank you.

Oh come on.......... how many topics on here do you really find an interest in?

The advance of OLy's DSLR line into entry level cameras has brought here many more of those all together new to photography. Now that is fine, indeed great mind you. It is simply not why I joined this forum nor what I seek from it.......... ie., specifically........ I look for valuable input in the form of E-1 camera tips, settings, photographic composure & artistry and yes I look through and love some of the indeed professional quality photos that are shared.

In general I have no problem helping anyone, however, I do reserve the right to choose whom I help and with whom and what I participate with.

I don't log on here with what free time I manage to find to sort through childish antics and questions about how to turn on the camera or what off-brand cheap flash someone should buy because they can't afford the FL50. Sorry if that offends, but thats just the way it is.

I and several others I seldom see here now used to participate much more a couple years back. So............ there ya go.

You might ask yourself why it is "so slow" ..... then again, one has to weed through the latest hours of trivia often times to find something of interest on page 2 or 3. Used to be one page was all one needed to find many topics of useful intelligence.
forum traffic is way too slow. The emphasis will shift to more
'pro' topics when the E-1 successor arrives.

what off-brand cheap flash someone should buy because
they can't afford the FL50.
And that's a completely legitimate question. Not all of us know all the off-brand flashes in the world, you know. Plus, not all of us have the money to buy an FL-50 as much as we'd like to.

Again, if the flash will work with E-whatever, the question is kosher. It's not like they ask whether it will work with Fuji S3...

It sounds to me like you want a newbee forum so you wont have to deal unknowledgable posters.

In the newbee forum they could all ask each other qyestions without answers. The king would be the one to have read the manual.

As I have seen more than a few newbee posters here become quite good in a short time posting pics I envy, I would feel the forum would lose alot. I have learned from people here that have been here less time than I have, I'll probabily continue to do so. (I hope) I also find that the newbees are more apt to try a new gadget that a pro would have no use for and all of a sudden everyone wants one.

Then again I have seen pictures posted by non newbees that are not up to snuff either, soft almost oof, bad exposure ect.

Some newbees are really very knowledgable photographers (even pros) that are new to digital photography or even the Oly brand. I am sure you don't have time for them.

When the 300 came out there was a ton of post calling for a E1/ E-10/20 forum. 2 years later that pro forum would be slow indeed as there are almost no E-10/20 post and with the E1 price drop most posters wouldn't be pros. In fact some newbees chose the E1 over the entry level cams.

Oh what a forum it would be, post would stay on the front page for days. There would be no technical questions as there would be only pros, or if they didn't know they would be afraid to ask for risk of looking like a newbee.

I agree that there are posters that stopped posting, but I thought they were all banned.

Should Phill not fill your request for a new forum you could always start your own, limit the number of posters to what ever requirments you wish. Others have successfully, I'm sure you can too.

I know I wouldn't be invited as less than a month ago I asked a newbee question about my ring flash, luckly for me a forum member took pity on me and pointed me in the right direction. So i guess I'm still a newbee in the forums eyes.

It all started long ago and far away with a lowly OM-G

The OM of Getto cams

I guess that was the bit that comes closest to actually answering my question though you are obviously exaggerating. Frankly, what bothers me more are subject titles that aren't appropriately descriptive. If people would do just that with conistency rather than trying to be clever, then it is easy to filter through and find threads of interest and ignore the rest. But then I guess its fun to be clever with titles too. It's hard to make everyone happy I guess.

Maybe with the release of an E-3, Phil will see a need to split the forum. I presume you've made that suggestion directly in addition to calling other people's posts ridiculous.

Please accept my apology for my part in watering your place down. I didn't see your name plate or I would have foregone the registering bit. Honestly, I thought it was open to the public. Apparently I was wrong.

In the “old” days of the E-10 (20) this forum was pretty much professionals bouncing ideas around about using these new Olympus cameras. Then as the “non-pro” users started using the cameras, there was a lot of feed-back and help to them. Checked out your web site. Maybe you should move over to the “Other Digicams” forum until you can handle your images better…
