My 9 year old son has now got a +3 close up filter for his Fuji S5500 and managed these shots today with some assistance from his old man ;0)

All of these were on my tripod which I set up and then he did the camera settings. He enjoyed it so much that we went for another walk this afternoon too.

Cheers

Great work, I hope the enthusiasm he has now stays with him for life. I remember how much I enjoyed such projects with my father (a pro) at about the same age and [ahem] a lot of years later, I still apply what I learnt then.

I especially like the last two as included above - I love the abstract and textural nature of the first one. And the last fungus on the second shot looks like a nose! ;-)

I really enjoyed seeing those, you must be very proud of him.

Fantastic!! I see we have a budding artist here... :)

Thanks Isabel.

We had a great time. He wanted to shoot more today but I had chores to do.

Nice when you can share a hobby with a child.

Hi Winnie,

Your son has great potential, his pictures are enjoyable to view and quite unique for a 9 years olds boy, I will show them to my son (13) who is also learning photography.

These shots were a joy to view and are all the more impressive from a budding photographer. Nice job by pupil (pun) and teacher. I'm working on my 2.5 yr old, so far most of his shots when I'm holding him and steadying the camera are up my nose.
