Greetings,

I have this tripod, it's made by http://www.joby.com . I keep it in my purse and use it mostly at restaurants to take food photos without flash. Inevitably, the wait staff and sometimes even the chef comes over to take a look. When we traveled to Italy last summer, the little tripod became almost another "character" on the trip. I think it's very versatile and secure. I did purchase some extra quick release mounts so I can keep them on the cameras themselves.

I recommend it highly.

I have the Gorillapod and the G7. I would definitely get the Gorillapod SLR for G7. The flexible joints in the neck of the smallest one are not strong enough for that weight.

I also have the gorillapod and the G7, It is just barely strong enough to hold the G7 well. I would probably suggest getting the SLR one though since it not quite firm enough to make me feel secure. If size is a problem you can get by with just the regular gorillapod without to much problem.
