Get well soon, Forrest

All the best, Forrest. Get well soon!

As you no doubt are keenly aware at this moment, setbacks make you better appreciate the good life that we too often take for granted.

Let's all count our blessings ... and celebrate them with our photos!

Good well SOON, Forrest! Here's a flower for ya but it seems to already be occupied...

Looking forward to seeing you back here post-haste.

I'm a doc, but I can't offer my services, just my prayers.
What do you know about the sterno-clavicular joint, and what
happens when it's dislocated?
It causes LOTS of pain. My bill will be in the mail. ;-)

Actually, I almost did that to mine when I had a motorcycle accident and the handlebar hit me right below that spot... more in the sternum. I could barely take a deep breath for about a week and couldn't lift my arms without a lot of effort. To this day, my chest makes a loud pop when I stretch a certain way. It drives Karen nuts to hear it so I do it as MUCH as possible. (hee hee).

Buzzy, sure ya wer'nt drinking that sterno? I heard that stuff packs a mean whallop.

As far as Spam goes...I used to always carry a couple cans of it in my car...ya never know when you're gonna get a flat tire...works great for chocking your tires.

Hope you're getting better Forest. I don't know exactly what that shoulder injury is but hope you don't lose use of the arm like I have for the last year or so, and that from a pinched and damaged nerve. I had surgery on it March 2 of last year and still can't raise my left arm to more than chest high. All I did was to catch a falling door. Hope you fully recover very soon.

Glad you made it through the crash and I hope the recovery goes well. I'm sure your docs have already told you, but that was a close one.

For us non-MDs, here's a summary of what the injury involves:

And to see how lucky we are to still have Forrest with us, read the first paragraph here:

Hoping for a speedy and complete recovery.

Isn't that the truth... I feel like I got another chance at life.

Actually, I didn't go to the hospital for this. We recked outside this town in Oregon. When the cops showed up, I was still in shock, and didn't know I was hurt. They asked if either of us was hurt, but I thought I wasn't. They towed the car, and the cops gave us a lift to a hotel. Later that night I started getting real sore. The next morning I was worse, but I thought I was just bruised up a little. We got the car from the tow shop, and my roommate fixed it up a bit ( replaced a tire, broke some parts off that were rubbing against the wheels, tapped up the lights, tapped a bag over one of the windows, etc ). We had to spend two more days in that car, making our way home. I saw my doctor the next day.

Hey, Smoke, what's the long-term outlook for you? I can use my arms, up to about ten pounds now. The first few days I couldn't lift a soft cover book. After my doctor told me to use ice, I went to the store, but couldn't lift the best ice pack they had. It's funny; my arms themselves arne't hurt, but if I try to lift things, pain shoots all through my chest. It's getting better, though.

I was shocked when I got your E-Mail about what happened. It looks like things are progressing and I think of you often. Just think about the Alaska trip. They say the best thing is to have a goal to work toward and that trip is your goal and when you get there it will become your reward for "following dostor's orders."

My best for you,

Don
Get well soon!
